NA sounds very good to me. I think there is a lack of more interesting and varied terrain for DTO. NA villages, rolling hills, Italian forts and patches of cultivated land (based on oasis) come to mind for Libya. Then there is the mixed temperate-desert terrain of Tunisia and the coastal margins all along the Mediterranean. Definitely need more large NA hills.

Getting away from NA, one type of terrain that is practically missing from ASL is the open Steppe type (in green). The closest official boards to that are t, x, 16, 18, 19, and 33, but are still too cluttered compared to photographs from Ukraine. CH did 3 boards in Dien Bien Phu 1st edition (D1, D2, D3) that are the nearest, but (a) are likely difficult to find and (b) full of shell holes. The use of desert boards using Steppe terrain type still leaves too much woods and brush due to the conversion of hammada and scrub.

SSRs converting hammada to wheatfields and scrub to light forest works well.

Not for me... boards that look like the 1930 Dust Bowl prevents me from even conceptualizing healthy wheat/grains.
Outside of VASL, any SSRs that pervasive don't work well. I've never been so consistently confused and annoyed by the terrain as when playing Backs to the Sea. It's even worse in the desert where all the terrain types look the same to begin with.

I'd love to see some life breathed into the desert arena. A great candidate would be the MEDJEZ-EL-BAB or MAJAZ AL BAB, TUNISIA battles. US, Brit, French and Germans involved. Desert city fight, with river, assault boat crossing, Spahi cavalry, Stukas, more, more, more!

Know what you mean. It certainly sounds HOT!
Some cave complexes would be nice though...I mean 47 scenarios, you could have had three or four...and a parental advisory sticker "warning this scenario pack contains explicit SSR's".

OOOH our first XXX scenario pack! Watch as the axis forces squeezes the allied troops out of their defences. Gasp as the hot little tankettes shake their tail pipes over board 32. Shudder in horror at the infantry naked of even the most basic entrenchment.

Actually, I believe that B and J does have one where you could have cave complex. Additionally, there are several scenarios with caves in combination with pillboxes, etc. So there are still these type of scenarios.

Note that we do expect some more cave complex stuff in a future release.

Guys,

I may have mispoke before. Having accomplished quite a bit on several projects over the last week or so, well, there may be some projects somewhat similar in size to B and J. I guess we will find out if that is good or bad.

Hi chas, first of all, congratulations for your scenarios. They're really great.
And now a question : What will be your next module? Could you say something about is theme? (russian front, early/late war, scenario pack or historical module etc...)
And now a request : Please make the best HASL module on DTO terrain of the history of ASL! (not so difficult, there's only another one around!) (you have time to do that, as new player i've to wait the reprint of the DTO stuff by MMP)

Thank you, and good work!

Too soon sir...Until BFP 3 is fully shipped, we will not announce our next project. Our next one involves some serious, but very positive announcements, so we're going to keep you hanging for a few more weeks at the very least....

Paul, there has been some interesting scenarios published in Dispatches from the Bunker (most designed by Tom Morin, I believe) on this area.

Unfortunately, I am limited to the range that UK suppliers get. MMP, HoB, CH, BFP, LFT, Lone Canuck and Schwerpunkt with the odd stray product from a collection sale.

Still, I believe I have access to the cream of TPP. Don't take that as belittling most others, just I have been very pleased with what I did get (even CH, their stuff has improved greatly over the years).

I am now in the fortunate position of being a bit more selective about what I buy, there is such a range of real high quality ASL out now and due shortly.
