Jeff Howell smoked Stew in 122 Extracurricular Activities.
Lots of FUN weird shit happened.
Ended with a Stealthy slaughter of my troops in CC

Bad design of a scenario. You can really troll in this one.
Luckily Jeff did no such thing!!

Great player!

Ernie and I are playing J207 Unhorsed.
We finished this one last night. It was a pretty fun scenario. My Germans did everything I asked them to, making loads of MCs, shooting straight and even getting loads of sniper hits. The Americans got bottled up with too much in front of them and couldn't make it happen. At one point, Ernie charged his ACs around a bocage gap and created some real problems for me, but I had time to adjust and in the end the mad dash across open ground across several firelanes and loads of residual wasn't an option. It came down to a pretty close run thing even with the Germans generally shrugging off American attacks and the Americans less so in the early going. A little better luck and the Americans could surely win.
It did feel a little gamey with the VCs likely often requiring a dash across the open to get offboard (my least favorite VC from
a realism perspective), but also as the American armor seemed like it was mainly there to become a burning wreck in the right spot (all 3 burned, but maybe not in the right spots) given the mild breeze that was there to help make them shield an advance.
Overall, pretty good scenario, loads of fun to play and Ernie was a perfect opponent as neither of us were especially concerned about the knobbly bits.

Please drop me off the 2024 League. Won't have enough time next year.
Thanks

The VASL League Server is down so I'll post it here:

Andy Bagley and Björn Lorenzen played "always ready". Björn was able to win with the attacking US troops by the slightest of margin. We both recommend the scenario. Thanks for the game to a great opponent.

Thanks. I have a vague idea what might cause this...

Rich Domovic's Germans defeated Felipe Zavala's Polish forces in AP40 - The Head of the Mace.

My heavy attack along the Polish right flank garnered four squads of Polish prisoners. A spirited battle on the right big hill, saw both 75LLs and several other AFVs meet their fates (one of the PZVs immobilized in CC)

Those captured prisoner points were then free to be safely escourtered below the cliffs on the far Polish right for 16 of the required 24 exit points.

Nice scenario, enjoyed playing Felipe

Just finished playing Paul Logger in CH167 The Warlord's Estate.

Good balanced scenario (worth giving it a go if you have not played it) that I had thought I had lost as the Japanese and then a good turn got me back in the game. It came down to the wire on the last turn. My tanks and 50 cal were unable to clear the rear Lvl 2 hexes for the win.

Well played Paul. Very well defended as the Chinese.

I am still grinding my teeth over the 10-1 Japanese leader of mine who failed an NMC and then rolled a six on the wound severity in turn 1. Such is ASL  Not quite as good as my German 10-2 who failed an NMC and then rolled box cars on his rally roll to die on his wound severity

Thanks for a fun game Paul.

I'm happy - lost two won two so hopefully get to stay in this league for next year....................

I do hope that you are able to tighten up the schedule a bit between rounds - 1 month max.
Just to understand, are you proposing each round is one month? If there are 4 rounds per year, there is no reason for it to be one month. Two months per round seems adequate. Or are you referring to the lag between rounds? If so, my guess is it is due to players not finishing their games on time.

A one month a round tournament would see me dipping out. I want to play for enjoyment and 3ven w months can be a push for me at certain times of the year (the summer).

The most recent VASLeague tournament started in Jan. The second round was in April the third round in July and the final round in Sept.

This worked out to average approximately 3 months between rounds.

Personally I think that time span is to big. I would be fine with 2 months.
The possibility to increase the rounds to 5 could also be factored in. A 5 round tournament would allow for a 5-0 out of a group of 32.

Just my 1 1/3 Canadian cents

Going from three to two months would increase the workload for the volunteer who is running the league now which they might not want or can do. We all could use a little more ASL. I could handle a two month round too. Perhaps Steve can start another league.

I probably could tighten the schedule and increase the number of rounds to 5, but I also like my safety margins, so I will keep it at 4 rounds for 2024. But the option is still on the table for the future.

Two months may be too short for me to complete the rounds. I play from France so finding a good time to play with North americans players (time difference hours) is difficult and takes a lot of time.
