In Round 3, Jeremy Busby (Aussies) will be defending against my German paras in J226 Drawing The Kroh.

Bizarrely, Jeremy is also a Michigan alum of the Nuclear Engineering Department. He got there a little after I left, but hung out in the lab next to mine. Strange, strange, world.

I'm facing Michael Hastrup-Leth in WCW7 Eye of the Tiger as the Germans with German balance. Prinz Eugen has already been given the coordinates.

In round three, Rich D (Americans) and Paul S (Germans) will play SM4. Looks like fun! I am just starting to set up the maps.

Played Francois, who runs the ASL Ring tourny in Villeneuve-D'Ascq along with Pierre-Jean.

I go every year it being the closest tourny to me - there is just the small matter of the Channel.

Join the VASL league and play new people they said

Played Xavier's J103 Lenin's Sons. Great scenario. Francois decided to bull it through the woods with just a half squad and MMG in the wooden building covering the open ground. He broke his FT on the first shot and could not pass a NMC with his 8 morale troops. Then I decided push my luck and not to move away from his unconcealed 9-2 kill stack that had advanced next to the Russians. The 4-5-8 + LMG + Hero fired point blank and got a 3MC against him. The whole stack broke..............that cost the 9-2 stack one turn of movement.

Francois conceded on turn 6 when he realised he did not have the movement to take the required buildings.

As Jim Bishop says sometimes you are the bug, sometimes the windshield. The VASL dicebot made Francois the bug in that game..................

I played Kris Koch at J150 The Sangshak Redemption.
Went to the last CC phase (Big Casino as Joe Arthur calls it).
My Gurkhas won 3 of the 4 CCs for an Allied win.
Thanks to Kris for an excellent game, and thanks again to Tobias for all his work in organising the tournament.

My German stragglers won against Juan's Russians by huge amounts of luck (they were unbreakable - he had to kill them outright) in J146 Ragnarök.

Agree! His ELR was 1, but only failed 2 mc in the whole game, one that ELR’ed and one boxcars! I had to kill them by KIA/K. Incredible! In the last session you had to roll 18 times!!
Worse was that on a 2 to 1 minus one CC I rolled a 12, so in his last turn he could move one unit to fix the range of my defensive fire. And then, when he started to run for the exit, I had to shoot twice or more to every stack he moved, and he even rolled a snake eyes to pass and get out a crucial squad… The luck of the Champion!! Only one great player can make a desperate situation work!

But in Spain we say “¡Jugar y perder, callar y pagar!” To play and lose, pay and shut your mouth!!

Well played Sebastian!! A pleasure to play with you, you kept the pressure on me, and it paid!

Thank you for the game

Pd: Now I see were I did a mistake!! I lost it by myself!!

I had a great game of WCW7 Eye of the Tiger against Michael Hastrup-Leth, attacking as the Germans with German balance. Prinz Eugen rubbled two buildings so I had to take 5 of the remaining 8. The attack in the middle went well, but my right flank was stopped at the walls. A very brave fanatic 6-5-8 almost got over the road on the left flank, but got pinned by the last crucial shot. My lone surviving AFV (the tiger) burnt one T34 and killed another, leaving the vehicle crew to retake one Building in the last russian movement phase for the win. Tight, fun game, well chosen scenario by my opponent, and I had a great time. Well played Michael.

Finished AP14 Ace in the Hole on Saturday with the American balance ... lasted an extra turn ... against David Goldman. Americans needed the balance but the Germans had the dice. David had two full CC rounds at 2:1 odds against a squad surviving crew (who did not matter) in 46J8. The third time through, I went all in at 1:2 odds against David's HS and Squad, pulling a DR 3 of the hat while the Americans rolled a 7 to CR the German squad. David had to bring back a tank, crew, and leader for cleanup duty. That diversion drew some pressure off the assault on the village. At the end of 8, the Germans had good order non-crew MMC in 8 locations. There were several times when I felt like burnt toast. A very good scenario. Give the Americans the balance.

Just finished a game of SM2 Seldom Practical against Felipe
Interesting to play on the DZ:SME map for the first time...holy cow I hate bocage!
Felipe's initial shooting was excrible breaking a solitary half squad in the initial turn. This allowed me to get close and fight my way into the central buildings.
There after an end around movement on both flanks with small units and pressure up the middle had him scurrying here and there.
Eventually the whole defence was unhinged by him risking a 8+1 shot rather than repositioning and although my 6+1 reply was in effective, the 6+3 of course both broke and elr'd his best leader and the squad he was with.
As a result I could go up the middle, the left or the right. With no prospect of reaching the automatic VCs we called it there.
Interesting scenario that requires the Germans to get some luck first turn or they are behind the curve.
I'm not certain I like the rule that punishes the Americans if they lose a leader with a 4 sniper going about but it made no difference to our gaem, the sniper never went off!
An enjoyable game against a very polite and fun opponent. How he kept his calm when ever important shot cowered, I do not know!
