did a playtest with Martin Vicca, French SAS French won both times we played each side interesting but needs some changes, then I punched, clipped and stored the sheet of counters that we used for the French for him .

One should never cosplay while playing ASL. Just sayin'. 🤡
Not that it hasn't been tried - at least something in that direction:

I have heard that at some LARP event, where opposing warlords were shoving wooden counters in their respective tents and that the warriors would have to fight it out in various places. Results/orders being delivered by runners as well as recce (but quite some fog of war remaining, since the runners could be picked off, captured, etc.).

Don't know, though, how all this worked out. Due to the circumstances, the entire concept must have been kept simple.

Pulled the counters and plan to play Op Hubertus over the next few weekends. Even stumbled across the Curt Schilling vanity leader so I'll throw him into the inferno of Stalingrad lol.

I remember playing this one many years ago at GRENADIER (the Sunday morning round - it was not. But instead as a friendly game not part of the tournament). Big fun!

Finished playing J161 Riding to the Rescue last night. I lost as the British. At the end of British turn 3 I did not have enough points to exit. I tried and mostly succeeded in freezing the Germans with the tanks but took too many infantry losses.

I need to study the mechanics of the infantry options to the freeze move. We were both a bit at a loss. Not sure we played it correctly.

How is Peter doing? Have not heard a word from him in sometime. Is he still working on his scenario packs?
I have not had any direct news from him either. But what I heard is that he currently does not play or design a lot of ASL. Instead, he is focussing on designing another game. Maybe something in the Euro game direction.

We did get in two turns before calling it a day. The Curt Schilling 10-2 SMC fell like a house of cards as he along with some engineers tried to creep forward but I popped out two HMG's led by a 9-2 and all I was able to do was score a NMC but the 10-2 crumbled as well his squads. Nearby in the big factory Corperal Holst was kicking back smoking a cigarette when he got wounded by a sniper.

I went into my filing cabinet to look for some ASL stuff and I realized I needed to get rid of some stuff: Box cover art for about eight modules, letters from Avalon Hill dating late eighties, early nineties signed by Rex Martin, Bob MacNamara, playtest agreement for KGP (but I ended up not playtesting that module).

It should be a piece of cake for you to turn these relics into shining coin...
