Somebody needs to .......

Actiondebbie

Fill in the blanks with some task. Somebody = Actionjick
If I remember correctly, you were a sailor in the US Navy.

If Actiondebbie would be the British Admiralty in Napoleonic times, an order to you might have resembled this:

You are required and directed to complete stores and provisions with the utmost possible despatch and to convoy two sail of merchantmen and transports (named in the margin) to destination X. You are to travel at a very great pace but by no means endanger your masts, yards or sails. Shrink from no danger but on no account incur any risk whatsoever.

Today this might sound like:

Somebody needs to rush to the store to do the week's groceries before the store closes. But prior to that drive before my friends (Actionsally and Actionmaggie) that have been visiting to point them through the city towards the highway. Don't give a damn about the speed limit - but YOU are paying if you get yourself caught. Be aggressive at the store's parking lot in order not to lose time, but I'll have your a** handed to you if the car gets a scratch.

As you've pointed out, Actionjick does get the meaning anyway.
Never mess with the long haired Admiral...

Japan was either unable to understand modern warfare or not qualified to take part in it.

To skulk or not to skulk: that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to endure the slings and arrows of outrageous dice rolls or just beat feet.
Aye. There's the rub.

Keep your friends close.
Keep your enemies closer.
Keep your ego closest of all.
(Since one of the above is most dangerous)

I would rather have 3 grand in a $30 dollar purse than $30 in a 3 grand purse.

"Son, when the Marine Corps wants you to have a wife, you will be issued one."

Chesty Puller
The Army issued me a wife. Seriously.

When I was returning from Germany in the mid 90's, I was leaving INSCOM and returning to a Joint Duty assignment in Norfolk VA. My wife and I tried to work out an assignment where we were together but at that time, it was nigh near impossible as the Army was trying to draw down and not allowing married couples to be stationed together was one of the tools used. My wife got out, I was assigned to Norfolk, and on leave we went with orders in hand. After 30 days, I report to Norfolk only to be told my orders were revoked and my wife and I were assigned to Washington, DC. Remember, my wife got out of the Army and was no longer a member. The Army told me another woman--a Mrs Yvette W.--was my wife and we were now stationed in Washington. DC. I drive to Washington with my wife to my new unit and meet Yvette and Kyle--Yvette's husband who got out of the Army because he and his wife couldn't find a joint assignment either. It took the better part of three years to convince the Army Yvette and I were not married and were in fact, married to different people. Eventually, we got it sorted but it wasn't easy. So that's the story of my Army issue wife. -- jim
