The rulebook update plans are also a very good initiative, also a smart move to no longer include the binder.
Being able to download and print updated pages makes excellent sense.
The binder is nice but if it costs that much to produce it's very reasonable to drop it to reduce production costs and warehouse space.
Those of us still using rules binders have likely all either added a second binder or gone with w larger enclosure and customised it to our preferences.

I might even look at the e-rulebook for my tablet at some point....😱

I am an existing member. I click on the link and then I clicked “accept invite”, I am in. No issues.
Not my experience. It takes me to a page that tells me I need to "claim" (whatever that means) my account. When I enter my email address, it tells me that email is already in use. Of course it is....it is my email. I have been to this place before on Discord and I do not recall how to hold my mouth to make it work right.

Given your level of intimacy with Discord, I am not at all surprised that your experiences and mine are different. I am sure the link works fine when someone has grown wise in the ways of Discord uses it. It does seem very easy for a fool such as myself ( and others judging from some of the comments on FB) to break the UI. It seems that when I suggest using Discord for voice protocol on VASL (something Discord does very well), as often as not my opponent has had problems with Discord and we end up using Skype or even the Face Book Messenger <shudder>

<shrug> It's your server. If that is working good enough for your purposes, by all means, carry on. Just be aware that there are a number of voices missing from your otherwise great forum and meeting place due to frustration with the UI.

WTF does Discord have to make everything so damn difficult?

I've lost whatever Discord settings I had and now Discord tells me I have claim my account and when I enter my email of record it tells me that email is in use. WT everloving F?

Whoever architected the Discord User Interface has not been around the block enough times....
Glad I'm not the only one, I hate it..

If people don't want to do Discord I'll probably have each roundtable up on my channel the next morning (I'm assuming Curt will extent permission to do so).

There was a lot of discussion, but here's a bullet summary of the ASL product portion of it:
  • Ponyri Station HASL (Slaughter at Ponyri?), almost done, playtest done, final edits being done, Pete Shelling design
  • Karkov in Flames HASL, hopefully will see pre-order this year, scale similar to Hatten in Flames (smaller HASL), Andy Rogers design
  • Marco Polo Bridge Incident (? unsure of exact title) playtest done, will ship as separate versions for both ASL and Starter Kit, Ken Dunn design
  • Chef-du-Pont HASL (follow on to Sainte-Mère-Église) in final playtesting (I meant to ask if these two will have interconnectivity, but forgot to ask)
  • Spanish Civil War "core module", BIG! Playtest done, final editing happening, preorder this year
  • Journal 15 this year
  • Operations magazine with have a HASL map and “several” scenarios, featuring the fight to relieve the Korsun Pocket (Russia v Germany, Jan/Feb 1944). More scenarios on this map might be published later
  • Polish Eagles (? unsure of final title) being worked on, early Polish/German blitzkrieg action, Ken Dunn design
  • SK Magazine early layout pretty much done and is in proofing – “Basic Training” is its official name
  • Rotterdam HASL (Dawn of Eagles?) being worked on
  • Starter Kit Stalingrad! Will use SK ruleset (presumably with some extra rules) on existing MMP Stalingrad map(s) (this one was a surprise)
  • HASL e-rulebook, some of the older HASL rulesets will be sold as a PDF bundle (and pocket version I believe) so they can be played on VASL by those who couldn’t (or didn’t) buy the original modules back in the day. Presumably that means anything appearing in this “HASL rulebook” will never be reprinted, but I could be wrong…
  • Concerning the ASL rulebook: MMP will republish the binder version of the RB without the 3-ring binder (it's dead Jim) and will always be in synch with the e-rulebook. Whenever the e-rulebook is updated, self update high-resolution versions of the binder rules will be available to be printed and inserted into your custom binder version of the rules if that's how you roll.
  • Contested Lands (last title mentioned) "core module" was removed from the production schedule due to current situations happening in the Middle East. The module is basically done, and will be added back to the schedule when the time is right. This was a Hasbro decision, not MMP decision.

Saw this - many thanks Neal, hopefully you can keep broadcasting them...

Since I purchased the eRules there is no going back really, just the search engine for it is amazing and the cross references are also invaluable.
Absolutely, which is one reason I'm very happy to hear of the plan for an eHASLRB. Not just so that it means some out of print HASLs might come to the VASL table for some of us, but mainly so that rules are practically searchable. Some HASL BR are quite large and searching for rules and cross references during play is annoying with physical pages.

I really, really, really hope that 3rd Edition SASL will come in some eRB form. Many moons ago when the eASLRB first came out it was said that the SASL rules would eventually be electronic, but that was some time ago and maybe plans change with a physical 3rd Edition. But SASL is a significant rules burden and having a searchable rule book would be so nice.

At least it's still 'full steam ahead' for the Kharkov HASL. Fortunately 'corporate' does not perceive any controversy regarding that current 'no end in sight' conflict occurring upon other contested lands. 'When the time is right' is a curious metric to apply to any game portraying actions in the Middle East.
Whatever. 🙄

It could mean anywhere from today to possible 3000 years from now. 😂

Don’t use it mate. It’s okay. It’s not like I own it or anything. 2400+ are on. 230+ active at any given time. It’s okay. We got a good crowd going.

I hope that the MMP guys can transition to the eRB for all their products but I am not sure how they guarantee the monetization. Perhaps if they give a code for 50% discount in the box of a new HASL towards the purchase of the eRB for that HASL.

That said, Kohima would be a very interesting HASL.
Even though I am shy about playing Night rules (Disclaimer : I am not denying the historical importance of night actions)...

Robin use VASL for night Scenarios , so much easier to play.
I had sworn off of night until VASL. Now I will only play night on VASL.
Given how much is available to play, really anything with a lot of HIP is VASL only.
We played a TotR scenario recently and my opponent kept forgetting that his unit had a SW, etc
which kind of wrecked the game. His bad, could have been me just as easily as
I guess we are getting too used to the wonderful HIP function on VASL.

So true. Playing night on VASL makes playing on physical boards seem like just an unpleasant chore.
