Mr Dorosh-I am a loyal ASL player, but I have a hard time reconciling paying $40 for a few sheets of paper that I would like to play and get a lot of paper I don't need-you get a copy to save for posterity if it goes into J#8 :)

BTW- I bought the ASL Classic even though I subscribed to The General and have the original material.

Yeh, but you're a disloyal MMP customer. :D:D:D

In all honestly, I'd really like to see stuff like Kakazu Ridge and Singling and all the little Chapter Z goodies available as separate "parts" purchases - bagged separately and in my local hobby shop for 5 or 10 bucks. I have no problem buying the reprint of Journal 2 now that it is being contemplated either - I have it on preorder very happily - much happier than a 300 dollar ebay purchase!

But I had no problem with the $40 Operations issue, either.

Kind of stumped about the reaction to that by others, though, because people were unhappy that the year was so lean as far as "official" MMP releases.

Oh well - MMP is like a woman; guessing what they're going to do next is half the fun.

But if there was ever a method of getting the "parts" that was cheap and easy, it would definitely be the best for the consumer.

With VotG and AP4 being released in 2008, I think it's been a good year for MMP. If there were a significant module, either core or historical, and an AP or Journal issued every year, I would be ecstatic.

I think VotG is a quality module. The scenarios I have played from VotG have all been interesting, very fun, and balanced. I love the fact that VotG was issued with 17 scenarios (twice as many as RB) and there are four other scenarios I know of for a total of 21 (3 from Dispatches and a historical version of In Sight of the Volga from the Spec. Ops. #1).

I have only played 3 scenarios from AP4 and they were good, but not great. Admittedly, I am not a fan of bocage and my expectations for bocage scenarios was set pretty high by HoBs Beyond the Beachead.

I am one of the stupid ones that paid over $40 for Singling with no intent or desire to even experiment with the other game stuff in the Spec. Ops magazine. I'm a historical junkie and I couldn't resist. I'd love to experiment with other games, but I am having so much fun with ASL I am satisfied using what time I do have for games on ASL. I have played both Singling scenarios but have yet to play the CG. I am really looking forward to playing the VotG scenario from the Spec. Ops mag.

Apologies about the tournament mix up.. Thanks for the clarifications.

btw, if you've not listened to the interview on the 2 HS podcast it's worth checking out.

Amidst your typically low-class approach to posting in my direction, I will try to address the fragments of legitimate argument inside:
Reserved specifically for you, because you richly deserve it.

1) MMP has never given a legitimate public reason why it's taken over 2 years to bring DB3 and the Map Bundle to market after hitting P#, even if they both had to be laid out from scratch.
MMP has said so in numerous places, but you've managed to ignore and/or forget them.

2) Both SK1 and SK2 have slipped OOP at different staggering times, making it rare to find them both available on the shelf at the same time in recent years.
But, they've been reprinted each time, so what's your point? You want MMP to immediately reprint each module once it goes OOP. Can't be done in today's wargaming economy. Show me ANY wargaming company that immediately reprints an OOP wargame?

3) You have no evidence other MMP games are generating as much profitability as the ASL line when new ASL is available. I can see the top lines from the confirmed P#s. I see ASL consistently in first place. MMP started for ASL first, but chose to stray from that path. I don't hold back from holding them accountable for that decision.
I don't have to show you evidence. You were the one to make the original statement that they weren't as profitable without having any information to back it up. Which is an all too common tactic of yours.

Show us your proof from your original statement that non-ASL games aren't as profitable as ASL.

4) Most players would consider access to the British OB to be pretty essential. Certainly moreso than new scenarios or HASLs for old grogs who can get those very things from the TPPs.
Most players? Again, where are you getting your information? I haven't seen a poll asking this question here or on C-World.

Or is this Portal's opinion? And what Portal thinks, but you're inserting 'most players' for 'Portal'? No need to answer this one, I already know the answer.

And again, with attitudes like this from "seasoned" grogs, we wonder why fewer new players pick up the massive 3-ring binder to play this game.
It's not an attitude, it's business. MMP has shown us what is best for them. It's their business, not yours. THANK GAWD! You want what is best for Portal, not what is best for MMP.

And that's the point of all your anti-MMP posts. You've got a stick up your ass concerning MMP and you'll never let it go no matter how well and how many items they produce in a year. MMP could come out with 15 new items and you'd complain that it wasn't 16 or that one was subpar. It's always something, even when it's nothing.

BTW - DB3 has 1007 pre-orders as of today. The Map Bundle is a big-ticket $180 item with 712 pre-orders. A heck of a lot more than this "100" number you're pulling out of your rear.
Map Bundle is not a reprint, it's a new item. DB3 at 1007 (two of them mine) is still nowhere close to the 3000+ they would sell of a new item.

This isn't true, you adopt what Portal calls a "no-class" (which I presume means attack-dog style) type of response with other people too. You can't honestly say you save it up for Marcus.

But your points are mostly well-taken here. See the other posts on why it makes no sense to race to keep the core modules in print. In a perfect world, sure, but in a business world, your point seems on the mark that it makes more sense to sell new stuff to the hundreds of guys who will snap it up in a heartbeat than to speculate on newcomers that may or may not show up to the party.

On a serious note, I thought the map bundle was delayed because it overlapped with some modules also and it made sense to print it all simultaneously - for example the Finnish module? I don't recall the specific details.

Only to those with any sense (exc Portal and his army of 3... maybe 4). ;)

That's not true. For him I have to use the words idiotic, ridiculous, racist, no information, etc, because that fits him and his contant need to spread misinformation about MMP.

For you I have to answer in long, lengthy prose, because why answer in five words when 2000 will do? In other words, as the sun sets tomorrow along the winding spinning landscape of our times, we must comptemplate our existence upon this earth and why we live in these troubled times. But, know and believe this... that as sure as I'm sitting and staring at my screen, that the one who goes by the initials MD will no doubt type many more words and paragraphs than any other, blah, blah, blah...

Okay, I seriously LOLed at this. I didn't realize you adopted the posting styles of the people you responded to. Fascinating stuff.

We should all pick one day a year where the entire forum has to do exactly that - post in the style of the people they're talking to. It could be more fun than Talk Like A Pirate Day.

Yarrr.

heheheheheheheh CDA#1 hehehe:laugh:

People forget in the money equation that MMP must pay Hasbro, something they do not have to do with Gamers games

I don't get why this keeps coming up. If you don't like MMP or the way they spend their money don't buy from them.

You mean that MMP won't change how they run their business based on whiney messages on a GS chat board, and such messages are utterly futile? Who'd a thunk?

When I started this thread I was unsure how it would go. I really didn't want to start another MMP bashing, but things tend go their own way ...

What did you expect gungadin? A love fest between wolkey and portal? An excellent troll thread, you should be proud of yourself. You managed to bait the usual suspects and show just how immature poeple are in this hobby.

If i was a newbie and read half the threads here, I would not touch ASL with an ugly stick.

What about you Scott - any thoughts on AP4/VOTG/Singling HASL that you would like to share?
Guess you're right. I didn't realize that posting a polite question was baiting, but I guess it depends on the baitee...

Note to Roadtogundagai - how dare you use manners. Act like you're in a coffee house for heaven's sake.

I had no idea I was a BaitMaster® until now. I feel all chuffed and warm with my sense of inner fulfillment

Or maybe I should make that MasterBaiter®

Some folks have asked me how I did the ® symbol. Hold down the <ALT> key and type in the relevant 4 digit code, as follows:

<ALT>0174 = ®
<ALT>0169 = ©
<ALT>0153 = ™
... etc

There are many, many of these <ALT> key codes to play with.

Link here.

Enjoy
