Truly a Battle of the Feebles, featuring two Michigan PhD Engineers with identical 0-2-1 records.

I almost want to arrange a dual forfeit just so nobody has to finish at the very bottom. OTOH, there ain't no Third Line League to fall down into, so on we go!

Steve and I finished our game of scenario 75, Strangers in a Strange Land. The French Foreign Legion fights the Germans in Norway, so I suppose they were both strangers. For sure they were both strangers to passing morale checks, but this favored the defenders and the Legionnaires‘ columns were broken up by accurate long range machine gun fire. Things got tougher as one of the French tanks broke its gun and headed off to Sweden for repairs. In the end there just weren’t enough left to take the victory building from the massed German troops.

Martin V and Paul S just finished AP 191 East Wind. My Soviets set up to hit the far right really hard with 2 human waves and then the other 4 squads in support. The HWs went off well, some death, but effective. One AT gun came out and wreaked havoc for a bit, but was shut down. By Soviet T3 we had 4 squads and 4 T-34s halfway across the final board, another 6-8 squads moving into supports and a nice picket line squashing the flank attack. Martin's reinforcements were stuck on the board edge for defense and it started to snow which shut down the long range potshots from across the valley. After he tried to charge into position in what felt rather desperate times and I shot up that move, Martin threw in the hat. ROAR has this at 11-5 pro-German, but we felt that it would be hard to defend the whole board against human waves like this. He did have a few guys way off trying to get into the action that reduced his forces, but really it was pretty forgone once the first movement phase was done. Curious how German victories have gone.

Thanks, Tobias, for a very nice Round 4 game of BoF8 Sting of the Italian Hornet. His Canadians were really short on time, but the Italian ELR of "1" made them melt away faster than snowballs in hell. The 90L was recalled by a well-placed FFE after breaking a couple of squads. The Canadian tanks were not afraid of taking bog checks to get around the Italian flanks, and got two Shermans through the village to cover the entry of the reinforcements (one through the woods). My reinforcements entered in armored assault to try to reach the southernmost row house, at which point one of the Shermans hit the MR/35(f) with a +9 shot, burning it, and at the next movement factor for the infantry breaking the entire stack with the 12 flat shot. They were all captured by a Canadian HS, but refused to speak even one intelligible word. After that, the battle was around a fortified location in the rear factory, where my 9-1/1-4-9 MMG stack was placed, but without any support they had to concede.

Round 4 will remain open for another week or two. So if you haven't finished your game yet, that's your chance. Have fun!

With Paul we just finished our scenario. It has been a hard fought game of "DB106 defending the twin villages", where my SS prevailed with great difficulties at the end. The scenario is good and we will now play it again by PBEM. Thank you Paul for an interesting and competitive game !
