Just said goodbye to Tom Morin, who drove up from FL to see friends and family and to also go to the Tussle in the Tundra tourney in W Dover VT, I was there as well on Saturday and Tom came to my house in Pittsfield MA for 3 days of gaming after. We played mostly ASL, he won a 3 player game of J164 Aiding the Local Constabulary vs me and Steve Johns then we did some playtesting of another Pocket Scenario (Japanese vs Chinese) that he is submitting to MMP. We had an absolute blast for 3 days but alas, he had to go, he'll be visiting Ralph McDonald's next in Palmer, MA. Tom is the best friend I ever had for almost 50 years now and I was beyond sad to see him go. But we'll have VASL for as long as we last and I hope I see him in person again some day. My family is gone but my extended ASL family has been great to and for me for 4 decades now, at least I know I'll always have friends in the hobby. Don't take your family, hobby or friends for granted, I never will and continue to have fun and roll low! Your ASL Comrade, Vic.

I started an SASL campaign where I've personalized the leaders and named my best rolled leader after my dad, who served overseas and was KIA while on deployment many years ago. On the second turn of my first mission, him and the squad he was with triggered a suspect counter and revealed a 12 firepower fire group, which then proceeded to roll a 2 in their reaction fire and KIA'd the whole group. I might want to think about keeping my best friend, my second best leader, out of harm's way for now!

Likewise I just started a SASL CG using the MGP and SASL++ material, I had three normal leaders, but the Poles SAN is hot (SAN: 6) and I have lost a 9-1 and 8-0 to the dreaded 1 roll. Down to just one 8-1 to rally stuff on turn 5, my CO is a 8-1 but the Company CO does not rally or do other leadership stuff.

Might be taking my first company loss soon.

A good deal of my life consists of thinking about playing squad leader,
day dreaming about making my garage nice enough to play squad leader,
but not actually playing Squad Leader lol!

What keeps you from getting your garage in shape and to live your dreams?

Same. I just finished turning a spare bedroom into a game room with a dedicated ASL table. I've lived in this house since 2007, so I procrastinated a little bit. :)

My wife got long covid so our income became single. I would need floor mats, some sort of heating and cooling as well.
I am very sorry to hear that your wife is suffering from long covid. I sincerely hope that she will eventually recover. Please convey my best wishes to her.

In fact one of my friends is severely hit by long covid as well. She is still below 30, had just completed university and started a new job. In a way, life was just beginning for her. Now she is confined to a wheel chair with no end in sight at this time. A terrible fate.

Not to mention the stories of another friend of mine who works as a nurse at an intensive care unit and has seen too many people of all ages die from covid.

This is why I am truly fearful of covid.

Well we are lucky most who get covid that do not have pre-existing conditions tend to live.
We just try to count our blessings and be happy that we at least have enough money to keep the 5 corners covered.

Set up AP59 for tonite vs John Brown but have to postpone as have a cold and lost my voice.
Also set up three Market Garden scenarios for my annual solo MG bash (A Scenario Too Far 2024) and a playtest CG in Oosterbeek.
