Does anyone have any opinions on Buzbe for ASL Storage?

I'm getting ready to punch and clip an entire set of counters from 2nd Edition modules. I've been thinking about how I plan to store those. My 1st Edition counters are all in Planos and those work fine. But I recently found these Buzbe cases online and they look like Raacos, with individual removable trays. I was wondering if anyone here has ever used them and has an opinion on how good they are. They are $$$! But, they look good.

Deep trays are not always the best for storage but it can s up to each individual’s dual on what works for them .

Any one storage box might be OK. Think about when you have 10 or more storage boxes. How will they stack or how will you store them? If you travel, how will you get ‘em all into a travel cases, etc.

I just finished punching and storing a full counter set of all core modules. Behold the German-like efficiency of BoxBox in the upper half of the attached pic. Thirty-nine BoxBox holds everything, with room to spare, in modular, stackable, transparent fashion. Even Marie Kondo would be jealous.

Damn that is a seriously organized book shelf of ASL gear.

I replaced my Plano system with RAACO a few years ago after looking at someone's system at ASLOK. I purchased bulk from Newark Electronics, making sure I got the quantity needed to get the deepest discount. It was still very expensive. I ended up with two extra trays filled with the modular inserts, but planned that for expansion. The biggest draw for me was the ability to mix/match inserts into a tray so I could just bring what I needed for a scenario if I was traveling for a game. Easily reduces the size of the travel kit without disturbing the overall sorting. When you return you can just place each insert back into its original tray. What used to be 2x Plano's (3701's I think) per nationality became one tray with the 16 inserts per nationality.

I think Texas ASL has a bunch of articles on storage systems that are useful in helping you determine what works for you. I know I read a few before I ordered and am glad I did, especially given the investment costs (for reference, at that time, it was a little over $500 for 16 trays each with 16 inserts including the shipping costs and tax)

Edit: I went back to see for sure, it was in 2019, and the total was $542, for 16 tray boxes and 256 inserts. They were shipped directly from England.

Those BoxBox look annoyingly tantalizing. Do you have a specific model or website I could look up? (Can't find much with generic "BoxBox" search). Thanks!

Remember to decide if you want these containers to hold every ASL counter you own, versus holding most ASL counters that will come up in any scenario. I leave most of the campaign game troops and extra counters in zip locks in the cardboard boxes. I use BoxBox 27 compartment trays like the photo above, but I think I use less, probably because I mix HS with squads. That is my home set and my car travel set. I’m building a more flexible air travel set.

I find it to be very awkward to pick counters out of deep trays, especially if the bottoms are not rounded, but since those are removable they might be OK.
Seems pretty pricey, though.

The BoxBox I use is usually referred to as "27-compartment box clear" with SKU:10048402 and dimensions 6-5/8" x 12-3/4" x 1" h, Container Store link below.

Each box, tray really, can hold the full infantry and SW mix for one large nationality or two smaller ones. For example, my Germans get one box, but the French and Allied Minors share a box. Vehicles require two to three boxes for a large nationality like the British or one for Chinese, etc. They're easy to rack and stack. Easy to see; no need to label since they are transparent. Easy to access, no fingers getting jammed on the edges of deep compartments. The one drawback is no locking seal, which one need only address when flying and then any rubber band will do the trick.

Have not used these but would not recommend, just looking at them. Take a look at the BoxBox Gorkowskij is recommended, but click on the box to select the 27-compartment, not the 14-compartment version. You will need to put big rubber bands around these however.

If you want to check out Raaco, look at what Ritterkrieg has to offer as well as the STL files at Texas ASL. Also discussed in Jim Bishop's blog https://jekl.com/2022/04/21/asl-storage-and-3d-printing/

I believe she would find joy, rather than jealousy.

It's looking like I'll need to take one for the team here. I think I'll try them out. But, I'll try two. One for Admin counters the other for Misc counters (boats, bridges, emplacements). The rest of the counters I'll use the old standard Planos. The BoxBox look nice, but as a pet owner I need a latching cover. Plus I live in AZ where rubber bands have a two-week shelf life.

That LOOKS really good. DO those lids secure? If they topple or are dropped, will they survive? I still use the Plano 3701 as my go to. I dropped them all over the driveway (gravel) once in the rain. Had they not been sure lock, I'd have had a titanic cardboard gaming disaster.

BoxBox lids fit tight, but do not secure, not a problem though. Perhaps I'm just unusually coordinated, but after seven years of play, including road and air travel to club meetings and tournaments, I've never spilled a BoxBox. I just stack 'em snug in a larger container that does lock and when flying (and only when flying) wrap a rubber band around them to be safe. And, I find their lack of a hinged lid and clasp mechanism to be an advantage on the table - they take up less room during play. The removable lid fits well underneath when you play so it does not get in the way nor does it get lost.
