I'm about to declare Attack or Idle against my opponent in a campaign game. I want to do this over internet, and I'm sure I have seen such a service before, but now I can't find it.

That is: I give my opponent an URL. He declares his intention, and after that he goes to the URL, press a button (which store the time the button was pressed) or something, and he can see what I declared.

Any one that understands what I mean? 🤪

I understand. However, unless you're playing for money is it really necessary?
Maybe, maybe not. Some things are just nice to do properly. :)

I write my intention (Attack or Idle) in a password-protected document and send the document to him. When he declares his intention, I provide the password to him to confirm my intent.
Good solution!

Find a VASL counter that you can HIP and Label. One of you starts a VASL session, makes the counter, picks Idle or Attack, and then HIPs the counter. The second person joins the VASL session, pulls a clone of the bare counter, chooses initiative. Then the first player un-HIPs his counter.

of his choice.
I think it's a non-issue, but if you are at all concerned, this isn't the solution.
I just blurt out my choice and then let my opponent do the same.
@carlsson could also just use the notes feature used for HIP stuff.
Opponent says, here's a file with one note. Reveal after opponent states chit.

This is the way
I agree that this should be a non-issue. But I have been in situations where opponents have changed their mind, and to get rid of all blame-and-shame situations I want to be as clear as possible.

Despite everything, after spending 100+ hours on a campaign, where you’ve also done things to outwit your opponent, you don’t want a slip of the tongue to ruin the mood for the rest of the game. It’s a bit like accidentally seeing your opponent’s HIP note – the element of surprise can easily vanish…

Can't you also make multiple notes and reveal whichever one you want? Or does your opponent see the existence of all your hidden notes?

At any rate, if this is a problem for you, any scenario with concealment or HIP is also a problem. So it seems just as good a solution as the more complicated methods if the point is to figure out how to set up a VASL scenario.

The cryptographic commitment protocol that @Sparafucil3 mentioned is the way. Make sure that the message is long, e.g., "In my game with John Doe, for CG date 1/1/1940, I choose Attack", rather than just "A" or "I", especially if there's random garbage after that to "hide" the decsion.
Encrypt your message with a good key, send the ciphertext to your opponent. Opponent tells you their decision, you state yours and you provide the key so your message can be decrypted to confirm.

But if you do so, require a notarized statement from your opponent in which he confirms not having access to a quantum computer to break the code and refraining from social engineering to acquire the text in clear.

Made moot by the fact he might read minds anyway...
