Per [A15.431] a berserker "... must take the shortest route (in MF)". And of the possible paths should one have a Wire the rule says "counting Wire as 1 MF for purposes of this calculation only".

The A10.51 rout direction rule has a similar charge, "... must move to the nearest (in MF calculated at the start of its RtPh ...". However, if one of the paths include a Wire I can find no specific rule in chapters A or B on how to count the MF for the Wire for 'purposes of this calculation'. Till such time I figure the MF count is 0, just COT for MF calculation though if the unit actually ends up being forced to rout through the Wire he may well get hung in the wire.

Correct?

My take has always been that the wire adds 1MF to the COT. IOW Open Ground = 2, Woods = 3, etc.

It will be interesting what the rules gods have to say.

There's an old (unofficial) Q&A:

A10.51 & B26 For purposes (only) of determining the shortest route in MF, assume wire will cost 1MF.

This "1 MF for Wire" is in addition to the MF costs for the terrain. Right?

So, the MF costs for a Woods hex with Wire would be 3 MF for the determination of the nearest hex (in MF) a Broken unit has to rout towards. Right?

I would read it your way, as the minimal Wire cost is 1 MF, I presume you calculate the rout path taking that minimal cost as a basis.

My brain failed TC... In that case, that would seem highly UN-probable!
That was the point of my joke: bad luck going further than what is possible...

"If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all."
"Gloom, despair and agony on me!"
