Was playing next to a newbie the other day, and he turned and asked if he could try for an underbelly hit when an enemy tank drives over a hedge. God bless him, I laughed pretty hard! Not many hedges can support the 20 ton stug he was gunning for!

My favorite is one quoted by Steve Pleva - two guys from Idaho who'd only played each other thought Gun Duels were resolved in favor of the first guy to shout "Gun Duel!".

I dunno. That sounds like a good rule to me! I might win more gun duels that way, at least...

I think both should get a price for "coolest and most creative rules interpretion" - eventhough the Gun Duel would beat the hedges easily :D

Me and a friend of mine were playing a scenario recently after not having played ASL in some years. So of course we were really out of touch with the rules. During play my friend made a statement I know is wrong, and I was able to convince him it was wrong, but I am not able to find the specific rule thats proves he was wrong.

The statement he made was that 1st floor markers should be place under counters on the ground floor. After all isn't the ground floor the 1st floor? Any building I go into says so if you check the elevators or directory. BUT common sense for the game says that in ASL 1st floor means the 1st floor up in the building, but I couldn't find the rules that says that.

In ASL, a unit is on a "Level" not a floor. Check out B23.421 for your answer.

Folks-

Interesting thread. Here's a short list of my most painful rules lessons over the years:

1.RPh Method Surrendering. I'd always struggled with this rule..until a playing of Broich Bash some time ago. As the Germans I lost maybe 4/5 of my OB as POWs. That rule is now tattooed into my brain.

2. T-34s are RST tanks so they can't fire CE. I botched this in a playing which isn't itself uncommon, but the kicker is that we had -just- discussed it before the game. Talk about dense.

3. Firing a captured weapon at night is an automatic Sniper roll vs. that unit's location. Lost my 9-2 in a KGP game firing an American HMG. Needless to say, I'll never forget that rule again.

4. Starting a vehicle doesn't qualify it for moving target status. Thankfully I learned this during a RB game so I was likely to lose the tank pretty quickly anyway.

That's all I can think of for the moment (without triggering a PTSD episode, anyway).
