Try a couple more times. The list refreshes on startup; there is no reason why it would show these boards for many others but not for you. It may be that you had a temporary internet service interruption just as you were loading VASL. It can happen.

Your screenshot is missing a lot more than just SME boards. I don’t think your older VASSAL matters (Doug will correct if I’m wrong) but you sure you are running that VASL version. The symptoms present sure seem to match that of a system that is reading the contents of the board directory and not pulling the inventory file from GitHub. Maybe there is a clue in your VASSAL error log (under Help in the VASSAL module launcher)?

You are not alone. My list is also not updated, but given my massive ISP problems it is not surprising. How good is your internet connection? Given mine sucks, not a good reference, but as of this morning, runing 3.6.14 and Doug's latest 6.6.6 beta, they are not on the list.

I tried last night and the SME boards did not show on the drop-down....12 hours later now the boards are on the drop-down but I get the 'Unable to Read' File message...running VASSAL 3.7.0-beta1 and VASL 6.6.6-beta5

I didn't realize that my VASSAL version wasn't the latest. So I updated it, still the same problem though.

My internet connection is as stable as it can get these days; Fiber-Optic 100/100 Mbit with no other problems.

I have had some odd connection issues with VASSAL/VASL when using a VPN. Close, restart VASSAL, reboot, etc. couldn't get VASL to cooperate. Switched VPN servers and boom, everything was fine.

So I was poking around in the source and it looks like any IOException is getting unreported. So the essential info is lost and I'm having a real hard time running in debug mode so gonna have to wait on Doug.

Thanks to Tom Repetti, the DZ:SME maps are now on VASL. Look for boards FA, NE, and SE in the boadpicker dropdown.

Do not look for the boards on VASL.info. They won't be there.

Did you grab 6.6.5.1 yet? You need that to resolve an issue that popped up this week. It’s exactly the same as 6.6.5 except for this one change and should be safe to use with your current 6.6.5 games.

You need to use the crop boards feature when setting up. It is a little awkward requiring trial and error to get correct. You want to crop on the hex centers and you need to be cropping both boards on hex centers so they will line up properly. It is a little confusing because when you are doing this in the setup window it doesn't look like the boards are lining up at all (you'll see a white gap between them in the preview) but when you actually finish the setup and see the full size maps they should be continuous (or very nearly so).

Worked forever on trying to mate the SE boards together cleanly, until it occurred to me that cropping to A would actually remove half of A. I was stuck in the paradigm of full hex cropping. I swear, if it were a snake it would have bit me.

Fa crop A-ZZ half hexes

I still haven't figured out an easy way to place illum rounds off board where they will cast light onto the board.

Sorry, I have VASL 6.6.4 and VASSAL 3.6.15. I download correctly the maps and can see them. Although I don't see the counters (specifically the German new MMC). Is a problem of VASL/VASSAL release or should I do something (PS: I have a mac and the newest version of VASL/VASSAL give me some problems...). Thanks
