Greetings!

This question came up over the weekend while playing BtB7 "Blood on Hill 192":

An offboard observer at Level 2 is correcting an SSR/FFE into a Level 2 hill hex Location. The Level 2 hill hex Location is on an up-slope, and the LOS from the observer to the hex crosses the up-slope symbol. Directly in front of the desired correction hex (also on Level 2, but down-slope) is a stopped vehicle. The observer's LOS to the desired correction hex crosses through the vehicle.

Does the presence of this vehicle add a +1 Hindrance DRM, thus making accuracy impossible?

My tentative answer: Yes. P2.3 last sentence says "The presence of > or = one slope hexside does not change the elevation of that hex's Base Level." And D9.4 says that vehicles/wrecks create a +1 Hindrance DRM to "same-level" LOS.

Is this correct? Thanks!

Hi!

If I have understood your description right I think that there is no hindrance from the AFV. The reason is that the SR location is up-slpoe relative to the location with the offboard observer, hence it may se over an AFV in the hex between. The down-slope hexside you refer to will not influence this LOS. It's the up-slope that matters in this case.

The rules you refer to is coming into play when you e.g. draw LOS to a location that have no slope hexsides. Then, no intervening slope hexsides that are crossed will alter your LOS.
