We are having some confusion about A21.13 Non-Qualified Use. The situation is a Russian 447 is manning a Russian 45L ATG that has a printed ROF of 3.

A21.13 states "An ordnance weapon which requires a crew to man it may be operated by non-qualified friendly MMC or qualified enemy MMC by applying the 21.11-.12 penalties to their use." A21.11 refers ONLY to captured Gun/SW and A21.12 refers ONLY to captured weapons. They seem to conflict (at least to us). So simple questions:

What is the B#/X#?

What is the ROF?

What is the B#/X# if the Gun takes an intensive fire shot?

Thanks

If Intensive fired the B#/X# of a Russian 45L crewed by an inexperienced crew would be Original TH DR=8 (-2 unqualified & -2 intensive fire).

21.13 refers also to the 21.11-12 penalties, so both rules are related - and not contradictory.

To be clearer : you have two possibly cumulative, but similar penalties :
  • Unqualified use : a non crew manning a weapon (SW or Gun) which requires a crew.
  • Captured penalty : using a weapon of another nationality.
Both penalties are B#/X# -2 and ROF -1.
If both conditions apply, the penalties are cumulative B#/X# -4 and ROF -2.

If Intensive fire is used, that adds its penalties (B#/X# -2 NO ROF).
If Intensive Firing a captured Gun by a non crew results in B#/X# -6 and NO ROF.

I think I played this wrong till now.
Thanks Larry.
But cumulative penalties are not very frequent IRL.

Of course once the thing breaks, with non qualified or captured use, you can't repair it. You can permanently disable a malfunctioned gun though.
