Below is a snap of the VASL British MG tray. I am trying to figure out which module the following came from: LMG (2-8), MMG (4-10), HMG (6-12), HMG (8-16). I understand the (a) and (f) versions, but have not seen the ones without the (a). Any help is appreciated.

Yes, Forgotten War for the LMG (2-8) and the US MMG/HMGs. A footnote in FW discusses how the Candains were using more US equipment than they were in WW2. I believe the LMG (2-8) is an upgraded/improved Bren.

From the Bren Wiki:
"In the 1950s, many Bren guns were re-barrelled to accept the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge and modified to feed from the magazine for the L1 (Commonwealth version of the FN FAL) rifle as the L4 light machine gun"

Keith: Then you are correct about the 2-8 LMG, as the 7.62x51 would be too late for the KW.

I love it when the collective minds can find this kind of data. Interesting to me anyway, even though the initial question for me was just to determine the source of the counters.

Well, I learned something today.
When I first started on the Harrier force in the RAF the team support weapon for the harrier deployment teams was the Bren with the larger magazine, it also fitted the SLR rifle that was our personal weapon , single fire but you could modify it to fire auto , 20 rounds did not last but the Bren mag fitted the SLR so we had a greater rate of fire as everybody purloined several Bren mags to use !
