Dispatches from the Bunker #44 Update
Including Operation Turnscrew (Rees HASL)

Hello to my ASL Comrades. I transmitted new
Dispatch #44, Including Tom Morin's latest HASL
Operation Turnscrew (Rees HASL) some 3 weeks
ago. If you think you should have received a
copy in your in-box but did not, Please let me know and
I'll check your subscription status.

You'll find our 20th Anniversary Issue with Tom Morin's
latest HASL project, centering on the town of Rees,
Germany on the Rhine River in 1945, with the British
trying to take the town. This Issue comes in at a whopping
42 Pages with the HASL, 5 scenarios for it along with a
5 date Campaign Game. The Issue and HASL Chapter
take up one e-mzail and there is a separate e-mail
containing the HASL map and VASL files. Carl Noguiera
also has his latest Tactical Tips article, this time on SCWs.

To celebrate our latest pdf. issue I am continuing to offer
a discounted re-subscription for any current subscriber
who wants to take advantage of the discounted re-
subscription cost of $14.00 for 4 pdf issues. (Normally
$15.00 for new subscribers).

I'm also offering pdf Back Issues for $3.00 if complete or
$2.00 if missing content that was re-published by MMP.
(In that case an informational page was substituted for the
missing content telling you what MMP publication it appeared in,
we hope to see Out of the Bunker re-printed by MMP when they can,
it is available in the aftermarket).

If you want all 43 Back Issues they are now $55.00. Take $5.00 off if ordering before 5/1.

If you want the Digital Works (a 4 issue RE-subscription plus all 43 Back Issues) it is now $65.00. Take $5.00 off if ordering before 5/1.

I tried to paste the HASL Map here so everyone can see it but the file is too large, If someone can edit it and post it here I'd be very grateful, Thanks, Vic.

One last reminder that the sales prices quoted above are good only until the end of the month.

So if you want in on Operation Turnscrew (Rees HASL), get a bunch of back issues dirt-cheap and subscribe to Dispatches and save some $, you have until midnight Sunday to do so.

If you have any questions, Please don't PM me here, instead send a direct e-mail to:

aslbunker@aol.com

Thanks again for your interest and support, your ASL Comrade, Vic.

Several more OT questions @Vic Provost

  1. For CG setup, are the 6 rows spared from Rubble Generation also spared from Falling Rubble?
  2. Do Rowhouse OT cellars also have black bars?
  3. To create a Fanatic Strongpoint, one only needs to fortify the ground level of a hex and purchase the Fanatic Strongpoint as well? If so, would level 1 of that building also be a FSP or would that need to be purchased as well? Same for the cellar?

@Vic Provost Hey Vic, thanks for liking my post. Any chance I could get an answer to these questions while i'm trying to set up?

Hello and Thanks for taking this on. As for your questions:
  1. Yes, unless the rubble falls from an adjacent building not in those 6 rows.
  2. Yes, the black bar is assumed at all levels.
  3. See Rees Campaign Rule OT8 for everything for Fanatic Strongpoints but yes, they can be purchased in the Fortifications Purchase Table in the Rees Campaign Rules 5.520, also, see footnote 4 as the Cost is per hex the building occupies; each hex of a Rowhouse is considered to be a separate building for purposes of purchasing Fanatic Strongpoints. Cellars are not fortified and need to be fortified through purchase, whether as a Fantatic Strongpoint or as simply another fortified location.
I hope this helps and good luck with Rees! Vic.

@Vic Provost Thank you. 3 is not really clear. It didn't answer the question as asked. I'll try and restate it.

Rowhouse has cellar, level 0, level 1. One hex of the rowhouse. To make the entire building a FSP, do I need to:

A. Purchase fortification for all 3 levels and then purchase FSP for all three levels?

B. Purchase fortification for all 3 level and then purchase FSP for only level 0 (ground level)?

C. Purchase FSP for all 3 levels without first fortifying any location? or;

D. Purchase FSP for level 0 only?

Or some other method I hadn't considered. Thanks Jon

May take is this from OT8:

Each non-rubbled ground-level Location of a Fanatic Strongpoint must be a Fortified Building Location.

To "must be a FBL" it must have a FBL spent on that location (see page 15, 5.520 and sub note 3.

So in my mind (unless Vic corrects it) you spend 10 FFP to create a FBL and another 10 FFP to create a Fanatic Strongpoint.

Agreed. But read that again and read my questions? Is the entire building now a FSP with only the ground level fortified? Because that's how the rule reads. @dlazov

My unofficial answer lol, is: Yes. No, you'd have to Fortified the Level 1 and then pay an additional 10 FPP to make that level one a Fanatical Strongpoint, same going to level 2 or the cellar.

That is my read.

And while that would make sense, that's not what the rule says.

OT8. FANATIC STRONGPOINT3:Certain buildingsmay be designated by SSR or purchased during a CG as aFanatic Strongpoint. Each hex of a Rowhouse is considered to be a separate building for purposes of this rule. Each non-rubbled ground-level Location of a Fanatic Strongpoint must be a Fortified Building Location.

So I think it goes like this:

  1. Spend 10 FPP to make that location a FB.
  2. Spend 10 FPP to make that FB location a Fanatical Strongpoint.
Those are both Ground level. Rinse and repeat for Cellar and level 1, level 2 etc.

I am pretty sure it says exactly that.

Each non-rubbled ground-level Location of a Fanatic Strongpoint must be a Fortified Building Location.

So in order to become a Fanatic Strongpoint it must first become a FBL.
