Sorry, I had originally planned to attend and bring product. Spent part of last week taking supplies to family in western NC and decided to remain here this week in case they needed additional help.
Absolutely the right choice. I live near the airport in Asheville, and still have no power or drinkable water. Main house is OK, but the surrounding garages and sheds took a pounding. 50-60 trees down on my property...along with my planned attendance to ASLOK this year. Still blessed, no personal injuries to my family or me (to date). Working with our local church to get supplies where they are most needed. Being near the airport, I see at least 6-8 CH-47 Chinook sorties a day (and a host of smaller helos) leaving for areas inaccessible any other way. We have had at least 4 C-17 delivery flights to AVL (in addition to other aircraft) bringing emergency supplies. I know you have seen pictures of Western North Carolina since Helene on TV; the reality is worse.
But, given the forum, I shall answer question on everyone's mind: All my ASL gear is safe and dry.
See you all at the next event!
