Has anyone hear gleaned any intel on upcoming updates to the Napoleonic series?

How likely is it that the following features will make it into the Nap titles:

Fast A/I processing
Firing by stack (vs. by unit)

Love the series; it would be perfect if the battles could clip along a little faster like they do in the ACW and Ancient War titles.

I think that it was said the updates would come after the next Napoleonic title.

And that the next Napoleonic title would be released in may or before.

But we are ending june now :)

I would just love if the cd-check would be dropped from all the napoleonic games - for some time now I play mostly on a notebook that does not have a CD-drive.

No idea when the next game will out. I know of some things being worked on, but not clue one about time frame. (Of course, even if I did, Rich would bayonet me if I said...hehehhe). That said, the cd-checks will be removed as the games are patched. Of course, I don't know when that will be either..heh.

Never heard Rich Hamilton or John Tiller say that. And certainly I never said that either. We never give pre-release info until possibly a week or two in advance and that would be John's call. I have tons in the works and am getting close to finishing a game. Definitely a game out in the next three to four months at the latest.

Status on the updates:

Eckmuhl - based on customer feedback I have some files for this one.

Wagram - update will include the new OB format (unit name) and reduced morales as per Eckmuhl's settings. Corrected Unit/3D numbers also.

Jena - Lots to add in here. Still working through it along with working on four new titles! LOL Still trying to "get there" with this one.

Austerlitz - many files updated for this one. Will get out as soon as possible to get things "right."

Oh, sorry. IIRC read it in the Napoleonic Wargame Club, but perhaps I was wrong ;)

Now rahamy said in the Wargamer forum that this saturday a game is coming from JTS? I bet for a Napoleonic title :)

Did you say Islands. :)........... Elba or St . Helena or maybe the rebellion of Toussaint L'ouverture against French rule in the West Indies. :D

It is probably Okinawa and Iwo jima which is pretty good anyhow to get more pacific stuff out there, an often neglected theatre.. :yummy:

Well get a round of updates out after the next title release - which will be this year, just can't say exactly when.

Fast AI processing is already there, hit the F8 key and away you go!

Latest information ( from a certain French Cuirassier ) is around end of year for the next Napoleonic title and/or updates re existing games.

I think this one ( ? 1813/14 Campaign ? ) is rather larger than the previous Napoleonic Campaign games , so it's not unreasonable that estimates to date have been rather optimistic...

That said, I will be glad when it's been completed so that the pending updates can be finalised.

Me too! Just finishing up for the day. Work on this one was incredible to say the least.

That said we are getting closer to having something out the door. Updates will be on a case by case basis. With some 66 games out there it has become a real chore for John Tiller to put out an update for every game every time a new game comes out.

Rest assured that Austerlitz has priority for my designs as there are plenty of files that needed correction for that one. Rich is tied up with a house move so not sure where he is on Waterloo or NRC. I have materials for Jena, Eckmuhl ready to go with Wagram taking up the rear. Still have to work on standardizing the morales for Wagram (lower them) and also renaming the regimental names for the Austrians so that they include the regiment name.

Yes, I want all of the series brought up to date too. Maybe at least a simple engine update for NRC will follow the release of this next title.

It is here where read the F8 hotkey :D

Regarding the updates NRC only will get the updated engine, and what about Waterloo rahamy, something else or too busy? The updated engine would fix at least the graphics problems with nVidia drivers, so it is not a bad idea to release only engine updates.

Sgt_Rock, amazing that to still add content to the old games, Raszym finally? ;)

Too busy now, but it is planned to roll out updates for the entire Nap series in the new year...would expect Spring time most likely as JT is slammed with government work right now.

Oh my confusion comes from "new year", with that you mean along the next year, not early 2012 :crosseye:

But if more napoleonic content is coming in 2012, will you postpone the updates to after the next release?

2012...the new year. We don't have another title too close, so updates will go before a new game is released.

You answered fast :)

Here when we say that something will come the new year we assume early in the next year, it is my error of course, English is not my mother language.

But then what is the 2012 content you were referring to in Leipzig thread? The updates?

Here is the unofficial answer. It is based on what my mother used to tell me about dinner.

WHEN ITS READY! ;)

Like Rich said, John it tied up with stuff and we are hoping to find as many issues with Leipzig (not only scenarios but game engine) that possibly can be found before we put out a bunch of updates for the series. You guys that are in a hurry for these: would you rather have to use an update for another year that might have a code bug in it? Hmm?

I posted a known list of issues with Leipzig here:

http://wargame.ch/board/nwc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11834

We keep on finding things so please be patient - but hey, keep that fun spirit going too!
