An update is never late, nor is it early, it arrives precisely when it means to ;)

You guys that are in a hurry for these: would you rather have to use an update for another year that might have a code bug in it? Hmm?
IMHO, it might be that we were hoping simply for an update which cleared up existing errors; rather than getting one that also included game / engine updates of some kind ( like the inclusion of engineers etc. for bridges or dismountable dragoons ).

If no new Napoleonic Battles game was forthcoming for several years, would we have to wait that long for corrections to ( say ) Scn's and/or Oob's ? One would hope not...

No, as Rich says the update will be out LONG before the next title in the series would be out. We would never leave you hanging. I am not sure if you have Campaign Austerlitz but we put out an update for that game right away. Right now John is swamped with work so we must wait.

If there is a specific scenario that you see that needs fixing just report it to Rich Hamilton at the Support Desk at the JTS website. List filenames and hex locations and unit names and all the pertinent info.

There are certain things that must be done to scenarios and pdt files to accommodate the new engine changes. The oobs need not be changed to get the new engine updates.
I made lots of changes in my Waterloo scenarios to the oobs, but until there is an update, Prussian infantry in Line willnever undisorder in Ligny and St Amand village hexes.

It was a retorical question really ...

All important things noted to date have already been advised to Rich H. who have advised that he has passed them on to Bill Peters ( yourself, I believe ). By the way is Rich H. working for JTS and HPS now, or is there a freudian slip here ?

Rich Hamilton never stopped working for HPS, and when JTS began self-publishing he has been their Support contact from their day one as well, fwiw.

I would expect updates for this series sometime in the Feb/March time frame - if all goes well. Not a promise, just a estimate.

Thanks for the news and Happy New Year! :)

A little glitch that seems to be universal, there is no enough room in the size of the army and in the hexes location. This happens with huge scenarios

I often wish that this format in the game was improved as this is how I would like to fight ALL of my battles. Folks tell me "stick with cavalry regiments and not squadrons." I tell them "use the Order Dialog for both sides and just accept the AI bad moves. Most of us THAT PLAY WARGAMES are micromanagers by birth I believe. The units have to be "properly placed."

A future game engine from any manufacturer that has the units use formations of your choice would be huge with me.

I'll be very pleased to see updates when they're ready. After that, how about digging through Charles Oman's seven volumes and doing Wellington's Peninsular Campaign ?

A History of the Peninsular War by Charles Oman M.A Volumes 1 to 7 inc’. Oxford at the Clarendon Press 1902-1930

Do indeed hit the Library in search of this series. It will take some digging, but it's well worth it.

That's great to hear. It's a bit hit or miss in the library systems I have checked. A friend in Tallahassee and I were each reading them at the same time. The Southern Adirondack system only had two volumes. My friend is in a larger library system and he was getting volumes from Colleges and Universities in Florida, Georgia etc. Here in SE Mass, the Fall River library has four volumes of the seven.

Most of the battles described there would translate to the HPS/Tiller series. There are a couple of attacks/sieges of castles and small fortified cities that have not been modeled in the few games I have seen in the Napoleonic series. Be interesting to see, though.

Be well
