If there is ever a time to visit Winnipeg, it's in the Spring. No mosquitoes, probably no snow storms, tornadoes, or floods.

If you were lucky enough to get a promotional postcard, you know Winnipeg is equally distant from everywhere. But it's worth it.

CASLO XVI will feature a Starter Kit Mini, a Jim McLeod memorial mini, and the usual stellar competition in the main event.

We will copy the learnings of the best practices exhibited at recent CASLOs in Ottawa.

Be there or be square.

Kommissar Knippel.

Wow. Maybe this trial date change will turn out to be a good thing.

CASLO XVI will feature a Starter Kit Mini, a Jim McLeod memorial mini, and the usual stellar competition in the main event.

We're ready.

All the above has been arranged. In a day or two, we'll publish a registration kit and a scenario list. Honest.

If you're champing at the bit (look it up), quote "Winnipeg ASL Club" to get $109 at the Viscount-Gort (the tourney hotel). Book your flights. (It's a gazillion-hour drive from anywhere further than Chicago.)

This is the Canadian ASL Open. The best Canadian players are encouraged to attend, but OMFG, it's a very big country. Come dominate us.

The 16th annual Canadian ASL Open (CASLO) tournament will take place May 18-20, 2012 at the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

In addition to the main, five-round, CASLO tournament, the event includes a Saturday-Sunday mini featuring the updated designs of the late Jim McLeod (founder of the Canadian ASL Association, aka CASLA), and a free Saturday-only ASL Starter Kit mini.

Download the attached flyer, or link to it at http://members.shaw.ca/casla/

Note that registrations to the mini tournaments are limited, and that souvenirs must be ordered by March 31, 2012.

Not me. :)

Diane and I look forward to seeing you at the bar, however.

I've booked the flight and room. I had some aeroplan miles to use or lose.

Last time I went the Thursday night crew drank the bar out of beer and whiskey.

If anyone is looking to share the room let me know.

Even though I live in town, I'm sharing with kempenfelter. So yes, expect the bar to run out of beer and whiskey.

I'll stock reinforcements in the hospitality suite...

PS: Glad to have you here, Adrian. A top dog, for sure.

Went fishing last year 6 hours north of Winnipeg. 3 of us caught 150 pickeral & 1 bass(only kept our limit of course) in 7 hours. That's not fishing it's catching. Talk about fun.

I'm not sure what CASLA's fiscal year is, but I presume membership fees aren't due again until at least next fall sometime. So no, any drinks I buy will be because of my inherent hospitality.

17 Wing has agreed to provide a guided tour of their facilities (including their C-130s) on the Friday morning before the CASLO tourney officially starts.

If you're thinking of attending, factor this in. A rare opportunity...
