Thank you! Thank you very much! What a great audience!! Captain Bacchus and I will be here all week.

Seriously thanks. What's a couple of old sailors to do when you set us up like that? Honestly I'm really glad to bring some levity to people, especially these days.

I've always loved puns and wordplay, a great form of humor. I try to incorporate them into my threads and posts that aren't of a serious nature. In other words almost all my threads and posts!

? Gosh, just had to give you another thumbs-up on that one. I'm just sitting here and chuckling and groaning at a great pun!:LOL:?
If you are interested in further nautical humor check out: Stories of an Old Sailor, The Cucumber Story on YouTube. Its about a four minute video done by a young coworker for his final at Kent State. I'm biased but I think he did a great job. He was inspired by my incessant telling of sea stories. ?

I liked the witticisms of Jack Aubrey (which he is always most fond of himself while the others just stoically fix the horizon when he is at it) of the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian. All right - here's one:

Why is the dog-watch shorter than the others? Hum, hum?
Because it is curtailed...

Cannot volt!
No category.
I use which ever I can find at the time.
Sigh. As I replied to Zoltan I really have to work on the clarity of my posts and polls. What do you expect from a squid anyway????

Understood.
I was in the Navy prior to joining the Marines.
Marines were much more exciting.
Yes. Took boot camp at San Diego right next to the Marine boot camp. I remember looking at a company of them running, followed by the stragglers then the ambulance. Very exciting!

One guy in our company went AWOL but he went over the wrong fence and ended up in the Marine boot camp where he was caught. They were going to bring him back but the Battalion commander said to leave him with the Marines!! LMFAO!! Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire.

I tend to use the blue, red, yellow and white dice provided with BV along with a blue and white round edge pair of similar size for most games.

For tournament play I break out the Las Vegas Casino dice box (three white, a red, a blue and a yellow/gold) normally stored for tournament play. Otherwise, never to be used except at the utmost end of need.

I attended Navy Boot Camp at Great Lakes in Dec-Jan 1965-65
Spent a lot of time chipping ice for a few minutes drill.
Parris Island for the Marines, but the real excitement was being trained on a lot of weapons, demolitions and then an all-expense paid trip to the SE Asia Hunting Club.
After Nam, through a MOS mistake I became an aircraft flight safety inspector, not as exciting but definitely interesting.

Took Machiist Mate School at Great Lakes winter of '71. Somehow the pea coats looked warmer than they were. Grew up on the shore of Lake Erie so at least was prepared for it.

Which brings to mind the notorious "Ducks".....a set of dice I had with a Duck instead of the 6....and I and everybody else took the "duck" to be a 1.....we ran out of German hero counters in a game of Trap at Targul Frumos.

I paid for that with miserable dice karma for a year and a half for that.....
Thanks for setting that up. :)

A Duck's Tale for posterity.
