Hi!

New to this forum, and nearly completely new to ASL :)

I hope that you might be able to solve a question i have.
Having read about skulking on the net i am at a total loss to find the rules to support this. In the rulebook it says that you may gain concealment in the end of your turn, i.e. after the advance phase but readings on the net implies that you may gain concealment before the Advancement phase!

I would be very thankful for any help on this matter

Skulking technique

Skulking is not a specific rule, rather it is a technique made possible
by the rules.

During your part of the turn when you are the Attacker, at a point in the
game when you are holding ground rather than moving toward the enemy,
move a unit that starts the turn in terrain that blocks LOS say a building
assault move it behind the terrain so that the terrain bloks LOS to the enemy
during the Advance Phase, move it back into that terrain.

This technique allows a relatively weak unit to survive a turn in which it
is subject to high firepower. For example say you have an inexperienced
unit with low morale holding a vital victory location. This unit must hold
the terrain, but it is opposed by a very strong kill stack that could break it
and force it to rout. In your turn, you do not prep fire it, you assault move
it away from the enemy out of LOS, the enemy is thus denied a Defensive
Fire shot at it, then during the Advance Phase, advance it back in to the
vital terrain.

The skulking technique can serve switching units : unconcealed move out of harm's way and concealed ones advance at their place - unconcealed then gaining concealment at the end of CCPH...

Not really, but it can allow you to optimize concealement by:

- Moving concealed units out of the line of fire to maintain ? for one more turn.

- Moving ? units up and un-? units back....although this would not really be a "Skulk" as much as a "Shuffle"....a small point.

and of course, the platonic ideal of the skulk is the Italian conscript HS that forces the multiple MG death star to take an extra turn, shoot at'em, and break all the MG doing it.....good sport what?
