Does anyone know how many posts triggers rankings (i.e 6+1, 7-0, etc)

Just a little off Bryan. The actual ranks are:

6+1 is 0
7-0 is 11
8-0 is 31
8-1 is 61
9-1 is 101
9-2 is 151
10-2 is 201
10-3 is 301

I may add a few past 10-3, considering that members of other boards I visit are at the 5000 mark.

Although I don't know what else I could do. Maybe go with officier rankings? What's a 10-3 in ASL? Colonel?

Ranking ideas

2 things you could consider is changing the #'s. Your distribution shows a good idea, but the #'s are too small. Say 20 for 7-0, 50 for 8-0, 100 for 8-1, etc.

Also, expand the available ranks. Maybe before becoming 8-1, the member becomes a 8-1 armor leader. And after 8-1 become a 9-0 comissar. And for the top rank instead of it being 10-3, it becomes HERO!. WIth maybe 2500+ posts needed for that rank.

One thing I wonder about, is if rank is only based on posting (and knowing how much ASL players like to get maximum benefit from the rules), what is to stop somebody from merely posting after every message a simple reply such as: "I agree". A member could find their postings number shoot up very easily!

You picked wierd numbers Nat.
No kidding. I wonder what the hell I was thinking that day. I can't for the life of me figure out why I'd pick numbers that were so strange.

I can change the numbers easily enough, if that's what most subscribers want. The only problem is that folks would get downgraded, although the relative rankings would stay roughly the same.

Time for a poll, I think.

The idea of including armour leaders, commissars and a hero is a good one IMHO. Not only can you increase the number of ranks but you can also increase the posts required to achieve them.

Which begs the question, which deserves higher ranking, a 10-2 AL or a 10-2 leader?

So applicable to everything ASL. Still, I was the first to 10-3, so as long as all you lesser beings agree to bow down before me as your god, change away.

I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy.

I guess I'm far too close to the bottom of the barrel for it to matter.

Of course not, little of what's done with ASL matters. It's a freaking game, after all. However, much like the Spuddies did for the ASLML, little touches like this do make engaging in this online community a little more fun.

How about promotions

I don't know if it would be possible, but ranks could be based on meritorius posts worthy of promotions. As to another question, I think most Colonels are 6+1 in the ASL world, Majors tend to be 10-3. Colonel Klink the 10-3 anyone :)

Of course not. But if we relegate Sam Belcher to permanent wounded 6+1 status, then it would.

Look!? Cripes, I can smell. Yes, you are indeed rank!

Besides that, you are soon to be stripped of your stars, bars and whatever other accoutrements you have accumulated as soon as the posts per rank goes up. Rumor has it that it will require 937 posts to acquire even 7-0 status. Heck, even Pitcavage and Williams will be knocked back to private.
