A tank is in an Open Ground hex, behind a wall and marked with WA counter. It gets hit from the side (no WA) and Immobilized. As I read it, the AFV cannot lose WA unless it is destroyed. Right?

It can't - per B9.322:
"A Pinned, TI, or Immobile unit cannot voluntarily claim or forfeit WA."

It can lose it involuntarily....

Other than getting destroyed, I am not seeing how a tank would lose it involuntarily.
I jumped it in CC, does that make it lose WA even though it isn't in melee?

The presence of a non-hidden, non-prisoner enemy in the same Location makes Wall Advantage n/a by my read of B9.32
