Noticed that ezjax besides releasing snow terrain, also updated some of the already present 2D map graphics. And these files are new

2DGroundd100
2DGroundd50

Not to be confused with

2DGround100
2DGround50

that were present before.

Some stock games include both (Austerlitz for example), but others not like Waterloo. Just wondering what is the reason for two different terrain .bmp? :)

ezjax is closing his site...

This Site- is going shut down in less than a month so grab what you need.

http://ezjax2.com/HPSMod/index.html
It is a shame that he decided not to take up SDC's offer to host his work/web site for free, so all of his hard work can be enjoyed by future Nap game owners for years to come, at no cost to himself. There already is one super good mod located over there, MapMod, and I know there is plenty of room for ezjax2's work also.

His decision will disappoint and hurt alot of future Nap game owners. Because of his talented art work, I decided to get into the HPS Nap Series. It is the only series where I play in 3D, thanks to ezjax2!

Did he refuse that offer? I wonder why...

+1001 :OHNO:

Before that there was a message that in the future he would post a Jena units mod with some examples. Of course I was also hoping the same for Austerlitz and any future game :upset:

:/ Look, this is all ancient history; there was a time when I remembered reading a message (probably here), that he was looking for a host. I made an offer, it was considered, and in the end he decided that he felt he did not want to do it.

I never had a problem with his decision (and I should add that it was over a year ago anyways), then or now. His work, his choice, end of story. In truth, it does happen from time to time.

The site is not really hurting for material, to be honest.

Hmm... You look angry with him or something? Perhaps it is me, english is not my native language, so sorry in advance :)

I do not want to mess, the contrary. Could it be related with Philippe's mods that before were hosted in your site? AFAIK he also had problems with Jison for modding/using his work.

So if the problem is just hosting, will you store his mods if he agrees now?

I am trying to contact him through histwar forum because apparently he does not visit this site a lot. Perhaps the problem is that he has not insterest in HPS/JTS Napoleonic games anymore :OHNO:

Let's see.

Trust me ! there is a pretty woman behind all of this, and if not, why not ? Maybe she looks something like this........

Ooooops ! I almost forgot about, " mere entertainment ". USE YOUR IMAGINATION !

Ezjax has paid his dues and served his time honourably, raise swords and salute- HUSSAH ! HUSSAH ! HUSSAH !
Seriously- I could not find a decent Napoleonic sword salute, so stuff it !

Thanks Ezjax.....................Mreeeeeow ! Good Luck for the Future !:p

Well, I can say that I was not expecting to be discussing this on a messageboard, so I imagine that it did come off that way. I figure I'll get over it-as I've had worse ;).

The issue with Mr Divine was different, as it turned out that he was using explicitly copyrighted material from a professional artist in his mods. The artist in question was Andrew Bawidamann. I was not interested in fighting for Mr Divine's definition of what constitutes public domain as it involves the internet; although I should also add that I am very aware of the other situations that you mentioned.

On another note, I can't tell you why Mr Divine hasn't reposted his Napoleonic material -that is something that anyone interested, needs to ask him.

There is a downloads area of the site. http://downloads.hist-sdc.com Any registrant to that area can upload material (it has to be approved by an admin before it shows up). So, sure - if he wants to do that, or agrees to let anyone post those there, that that would be great. But, no, I won't be pursuing the issue further (because the offer I had made was a standing offer at the time, and I assume that he isn't interested in it). In the end it is his work, and his choice, and I respect that.

Err...Well, thanks for the clarification.

Regarding ezjax, let's hope (egoistically on my side I should say) that the problem is just hosting and that he is still interested in modding JTS/HPS napoleonic games :)

Still no asnwer in Histwar forum.

Good news - Napoleonic wargames will still be produced. Since Jena Auerstadt- the map graphics and unit pictures are up to spec, although that said, I will miss the higher unit figure count. We can always fudge British and French unit pictures from other games but Spanish troops have not been done a la Ezjax style, so I can see why Nikel may be a bit mercenary.

Thank god the Waterloo stuff was done, and of course the early games- therein lies the real contributory factor............the glass is half full and not half empty. :yummy:

Mercenary? LOL, if it is so noticeable I should get back to my cave

You are in part wrong though ;) In the napoleonic wars I play the french side only, so the good looking spanish troops are required to fight them, not to play them.

I like bad guys, french in the napoleonics, german and japanese in WW2, ... :(:)

But the messing is just because ezjax work is top quality, Waterloo graphics are excellent. The glass is half full of course, but who does not want more? :yummy:

The Peninsular War should not be a great problem. All the french unit pictures can be taken from the 1809 Eckmuhl Campaign. The Portuguese units can be modified from some British Waterloo units and even some Austrian ones. the same goes for the Spanish units. austrian white uniform with tricorne hats and line units from Austrian line. I had a go at changing the colouration of a french unit uniform from blue to white. It took about 3 minutes. What we have with the the Ezjax download is entire templates to work with. Filling in different colour uniforms and details is relatively easy since you are just editing. The hard part is in the initial outline and getting the body proportions correct , which ezjax has already done. You can use the paint facility with the magnifier to get a close-up view and changing the pixel colours is easy and good fun. You can use the paintbrush for big areas and the pen for individual pixels.
The unit template is there, ready to be edited. Have not tried the custom colours yet, though. As for faces - whose to tell the difference between an ugly frenchman and a spaniard. :D

In case any newbies want to edit their unit pictures: Firtst click on - My Computer - then click local disk- then click program files- then click HPS Simulations - then click the relevant game - say eckmuhl- then click info which will give you a picture screen- scroll to the right until you get to the box with the unit pictures- then you can either copy and paste where you want the box to go or you can right click and get a choice to send it to , My Documents. Go to My documents and click on the unit picture box which will enlarge the view, then right click and choose the paint option.
You then use the View tab to customize the picture to a higher resolution, say 600% and choose a grid to go on top of it- then it is an easy process to change the colours as you like using the pen or paintbrush, and add stuff by sticking different colours in each pixel square.

I have to say that editing is a little difficult, especially with shading, but starting a unit from scratch is not something entered into lightly, as it is time-consuming and you have to have the patience of a saint........ and the eyesight of a racoon.....:crosseye:

Forget basic"Paint" that comes as stanard with Microsoft Windows- what you reallyneed is , "Real World Paint.Com". It's a free download if you google it. It has many more graphics features. A picture enhancement of 3200% rather than Paint's 800% which can be further customised. The colour, hue and luminousity can be altered with sliders rather than pesky having to delete and retype number values as in Paint. It has round pixel as well as square pixel viewa and the magnifier works by mouse wheel , all of the time. Way, way better than "Paint", so use this one instead or you will go nuts and blind with"Paint", and it is free......
