Ap 62 Shouting into the storm

clubby and I are half way playing this scenario. I'm the Russians and I'm trying to figure out what the point of the steeple is? All other buildings are ground level only. Russians can't deploy and I start with no half squads. The only thing we came up with was either it's there for historical purposes or as the Russian you take a gun crew and use it with the hmg and have one of the guns manned by a squad. We couldn't think of anything else. Any thoughts?

You can overstack a steeple, just not at setup. You could put one or two SMC up there, possibly with a SW (e.g. FT). The Germans can use it. It can cause falling rubble. I only saw one steeple hex, and it does not seem to have any super-interesting LOSes, so I agree it seems to be a SSR in search of a purpose, but it is not entirely without meaning.
