Terrible title, I know.

As I await my Beyond Valor 3rd set scheduled to arrive tomorrow I’m been currently putting together a felt lined dice tray while wondering if there are any small, easy/quick Eastern Front scenarios I can use to learn ASL?

Just start with the first SL scenario The Guards Counterattack. It was #1 in the original SL and was converted to full ASL. It appeared in the Classic ASL pack and General #22.6.

It is available for download at the MMP website.

The Front in Flames. Four turns, low unit count, infantry only.

It used to be available as a download from MMP but I can't find it now.

I found it in the Internet Archive (web.archive.org) but not sure if I am allowed to post that URL.

W1 Traverse Right…Fire and W2 The Front in Flames were the first two official conversions of the Rogue scenarios to ASL and offered on the MMP Website, hence the ‘W’. Later published in Turning the Tide, as U24 and U31 respectively and removed from the website.

Traverse Right...Fire was the scenario that got Tom Morin playing ASL, I remember an AFV getting hit and the effect in old SL had it move off the road so ended up crashing into a house. We laughed for 15 minutes after that and he was hooked, we have been hooked for over 40 years now. Those old scenarios are certainly worth a play by any newcomer...or vet for that matter.

The best way to learn ASL is to play with an experienced player. I'm up in Charlottesville if you want to get together for face to face. I'm also VASL friendly.

We had the same thing happen back in the SL days but our Tank Rubbled the building. This game in all its forms never fails to entertain.

Guards counterattack is gash.
From BV3 - Commisars House and The Citadel are the pick of the bunch but probably too large. In fact most of BV3 will be too large.

The dead of winter T6 is small and fast.
Lenins Sons from Journal7 is a good all infantry reasonably sized bash.

Are vehicles a deal breakers? What kit have you got?

A big Shout Out to J103 Lenin's Sons, great all infantry scenario, good for learning the system, that can be tough on even a vet as it is very balanced, I've played it at least 6 times with even wins and losses for me on both sides. It is 145-145 German - Russian on ROAR. I would play it again any time, fun and challenging scenario!
