Received For King And Country in the mail. First impression…a lot of nice counters and maps. Scenarios…meh.

I felt FKaC to be a little underwhelming due to the scenarios. I get that it’s the British in Europe but I felt there were other battles in the ETO that would have been better represented. This is just my own undervalued opinion.

Once you get comfortable with the system and no longer feel as a novice, any action you wish to play in the WW2 era you can always get together yourself, try designing your own scenarios, I did, not long after getting into the old SL system and then when ASL came out in the mid 80s. You want to see something anywhere it was fought you can make it happen, designing, developing and playtesting your own scenarios can be quite an accomplishment, I have been publishing scenarios in Dispatches from the Bunker since 1997 and was in the defunct ASL newsletter On All Fronts before that. I wish you well on your ASL journey, don't forget VASL to be able to play other opponents any time, solo play is OK to a point but you really need to play others to get up to speed and really learn how to play this great game. Good Luck and roll low, Vic at Dispatches. 🎲🎲

P.S. You can reach me at aslbunker@aol.com for Dispatches from the Bunker if interested...

It also depends upon which edition of FKaC you have. The later editions have a lot more scenarios I believe.

2nd and 3rd Edition of core modules have old ASL scenarios (Annual, Action Pack, Journal, etc.) updated and re-balanced
for inclusion as core module scenarios. That alone makes getting the new editions worth the expense.

2nd edition core modules are totally worth the money. You get extra scenarios as mentioned above, plus improved counters and the new SK style maps. I have bought every 2nd edition core module which has been published. (shhhh....two copies of each).

Point of the Sword is a great little one map scenario. Key to the German setup is where to place the HIP MMG. Protip: Never give the Brits the balance if you are playing as the Germans. Ask me how I know. ;-)
