I've been playing VASL with Yahoo voice and want to know if others have the same problem Steve and I are having.

When I do not talk for some amount of time, his return talk stops. It is like my router stops recognizing the voice data coming in as something I want to hear, and it just stops. After I talk, I can get his voice data again.

Is this something that happens to others?

Also, anyone with XP have NetMeeting? I am on 98, and Steve is on XP, but we can not find NetMeeting for XP. I never had the same voice cutoff problem running NM IP to IP mode.

Doug Kirk and I were playing Thur. night using Yahoo voice and we were having quite a few problems. I can't say they were exactly like your problems but similar. I think part of our problem is that I am on cable and he is on dial up but I'm not sure. He said he was hearing me fine but when he talked he was breaking up. Feel free to chime in Doug if you have a different opinion.

I've only played one full game with it, but the "iVisit" software worked great.

It's free at ivisit.com, and to my knowledge it's the only voice chat that works for the mac and the pc

You didn't mention what system you run on. I'm using Windows XP. You can download MSN Messenger for free, (it comes with XP) - or you can use NetMeeting. I've used them both successfully with VASL for about a year now, it works brilliantly - cuts down on the typing so you can focus on the playing.... I've not experienced any lag - even when using a web cam - but then myself and my opponents have all been on broadband.

I'm surprised few people take advantage of it - if you get a web cam then its essentially face 2 face.
