Ok, the e-mail was sent out last night to get this pupy rolling. At kick off time we had 16 participants, but we can add more in if people are interested. Just let me know.

Check the "Tournaments" link under the WARS section for more info on this event.

Regards,
Rich

Mike and I didn't mirror (at the same time) either, but we're well into the second scenario now.

If anyone has questions on this please let me know...I'll be out of town all weekend, but will check back in Sunday night.

Regards,
Rich

We've had yet another player join the ladder and want to join the Tourney...I've sent some feelers out to people, but no bites yet. Anyone have 1 more person they could invite to join us? Would give us an even 20...

This will be the last match to join as well, if we wait any longer they'll end up holding us up.

Cool! Eric's schedule didn't work good for the start of this one. No word yet from Vinny.

Has the tourney scenario been added to the WARS system? Went to report our first game and didn't see it there? Or am I just not looking for the right name?

For future reference the names of all the scenarios are listed at the top of the Tournament page.

Oak Hill

I'm on T4 of both Oak Hill games. Seems like a tough battle for the Rebs. In my game as the Rebs, I captured all the Union artillery on my first move, thinking that would ensure a victory. Yet, with Iverson's entire brigade (less one regiment) routing on T3, the going seems very rough for the Rebs - just too many Yanks!

Yet, so far of 8 game reports, we have 3 Reb minor victories. I must be missing out on the Reb strategy!

This scenario is more like a bar room fight than an ACW battle.

For the Rebs, the key is to get the Yanks running as quick as possible. The more of them you can make rout, the less you have to face in subsequent rounds. And timing is everything. Quick, sharp strikes.

I think Rich has it exactly right for this one as the Confederates. You have pick the right points in the Union line and attack frontally and aggressively. If you can get some of the Union forces to rout (esp. on the first turn) you can handle the reinforcements. It's also nice when you don't get too many "low on ammo" men--thus I always set the autodef fire to the shortest range for the infantry! (I hope we get ammo wagons in the next round! :) ) I have a major victory by a wide margin in points on turn 5 so it looks like I'll probably hold it, but you never know.
