A German leader Throws a DC at a Russian squad. The 1st DR is a < 10 which attacks the Russian. The 2nd DR (used to attack the Thrower) is a 12.
According to A23.4 DETONATION: ...An Original malfunction DR of 12 (or ≥ 10 if captured) for a Placed/Thrown DC attack on the IFT also removes it from play, but without detonation [EXC: a Thrown DC still detonates if the second DR is 12 (or ≥ 10 if captured)].
Ok...so the DC definitely detonates...but now the question is:
Does the German Retain the DC?
Yes; retained.
