Thats not possible bud. I have recently downgraded my ISP to a dialup connection. I still go back and play SPIII from time to time. What I'm getting at is the $70 purchase of SPWAW worth the money?

The 70 bucks gets you 4 Mega Campaigns which are about the best purchase wargaming has to offer.

Now if you just want to get the latest version of Steel Panthers known as SPWaW just the core game, and downloading is a pain, I refer you to the SPWaW Depot, home to about the largest gang of SPWaW famatics available.

http://spwaw.com/phpBB2/index.php?sid=7a3ee1dbda89bac3897f39358b0d781f

If you can't locate a guy there that can't aid you in a burned cd, you haven't really looked yet :)

Well I'd recommend you get a program like get-right. Then download spw@w over a period of a few days, downloading it at night while asleep and stopping and resuming the next evening.

If not then you get the full program plus all the mega campaigns. Is it worth $70? I wouldn't think so, but that might be heresy around these parts... :D

Not heresy at all  .

Marines - What you might want to do is see if you can get someone to burn a copy and send it to you. I would also ask if they would include SPMBT and SPWW2 from SP Camo Group on that disk. All 3 are excellent games IMHO with their own strengths. SPWAW and SPWW2 cover WW2 and SPMBT is for post WW2 through 2020.

I would burn you copies myself but in the next couple of days I am off on a business trip for about a week plus and will be unable to do this for.

Now you have my attention. I am a huge modern warfare fan especially when it comes to war games. SPMBT you say!!! Where can I pick that up?

Just out of curiosity does it contain NATO versus Warsaw Pact scenarios?

It would be easier and faster to describe what isn't in SPMBT actually.

Lets see, it doesn't have Robo tech Mechs in it :)

The file size for the SP Camo downloads is also a great deal smaller than SPWaW (its the massive sound files in SPWaW in a lot of cases).

SPMBT weighs in at only 77.9 megs as an install program. So that becomes a lot less of a burden than the 429 megs of the full core game download for SPWaW 8.2 version.

Only downside, you might find using Win 98 SE more functionally pleasing to run SP Camo versions. They run in XP, but it might not cooperate too.

You can get both SPWW2 and SPMBT here SHRAPNEL GAMES. Just follow the appropriate link once on their main page. Right now they have SPWW2 Ver 7.0 with a patch to be released soon to bring it up to 7.01 (maybe another week at most). They also have SPMBT ver 3.0 and a patch to bring it up to 3.01 both available at this time.

Aries is correct on the SPMBT sizes so for all 3 you are looking at;
SPMBT 3.0 - 80 MB
SPMBT 3.01 (patch) - 7 MB
SPWW2 7.0 - 88MB

If nothing else, check out the details on the website mentioned above and here SP CAMO GROUP

SP MBT 7.01 is out

I d/l'd it yesterday. I also run SPWW3 and SPMBT on my box operating WinXP Home Support Pack2. I have none of the problems some have experienced beyond an ultra-quick mouse that I have not gotten around to slowing down by another .exe out there.

Apologies, nitpicking alert. No offense intended, just avoiding confusion to those that might end up as such.

There is no such thing as SP MBT 7.01, that had to be SPWW2 v7

Unlikely you meant SPWW3 as their is no such game :)

SPMBT v3 has the 3.01 patch out though.

SPWW2 to my knowledge, as of this second (just looked) does not yet have a supplement yet released (ok it is not visible at SP Camo or Shrapnel at least).

Just clarifying, sorry for being fussy guys :)

I have both running on my XP SP2 system with no problem either. I did have to apply the mousefix though.

SPMBT scenario

Mr Clark, being that I am the proverbial soup-sandwich on this thread, may I ask for the url to download the Red Storm Rising user made scenario.

Thanks,

Ditto. I also set its "compatibility" to Win98. Works pretty good.

I get the odd crash to desktop when leaving the set-up menu for battles/campaigns, which is annoying, but a small price to pay for such a cool game.

Yes, please.

I just finished re-reading the book, so of course I got all inspired to play late 1980s-era USSR (actually RSFSR in the book) against mixed NATO forces. I'm also playing a PBEM game against a Canadian Forces officer along the same lines: his 30,000 point USSR assault against my 20,000 point NATO defence. I know it breaches the 2-1 odds that are standard for assaults in most SP scenarios/default settings, but it's closer to the balance of forces at the time . . .

Hope no one minds me barging in here....:)

Try this link for SPMBT goodies.

http://www.spcamo.org/spmbt.htm

There is scenarios and campaigns here. I think the russian campaign is included in the campaigns download.
