Anyone using MODS out there?

Which ones and why?

How "safe" to the system are they?

Does a PBEM opponet have to have the same MODS loaded to play you?

Mods are just eyecandy, they are totally "safe" and don't affect PBEM nor TCIP.

I use CMMOS stuff the most, But andrewTF uniforms are great! and I use a grid too!

Mods and your system

Sure it affects your system. The more high res images you have the longer it takes your computer to load it. If you put in a few tanks it might not make such a difference, but if you are loading on something like a new "steppes" or other scenery high res graphic, expect to notice the difference.

I have a dell PIII 850 with 384 RAM and I found that it was not worth loading some of the COMMOS 'rodina' images because a) I didn't like the look, and b) the twiddling of thumbs while the damn thing loaded got monotonous.

I advise that you download COMMOS, have a go and see what suits you and your system.

The default BFC's appearance is great imo, but there are some mods that are really (a little) better and dont slow down your CPU - "juju's small arms" for use with CMMOS is one of such a should have's
