Hi Guys,

A great thread!

This is an exciting AAR--good writing, in a manner found on the old box-covers of old (SL, COI etc) and timely and interesting pics.

I've enjoyed Honza's comments and I'm looking forward to reading about the end game. Will the Germans hold that bridge?

Clayton
Thanks for the kind words.

You know, we are only three games in an 11 game Campiagn! Although if the Russians break thru the bridges then the end could come swiftly.

The Germans have yet to buy a King Tiger, while the Russians have avoided the flamethrowing tanks and the mobile (on board) katusha's.

Other neat rules that haven't had an impact yet are Ammo Depletion and Fuel Shortages -- more handicaps for the Germans!

At the Pedestrian Bridge, on the Russian side, a capable Sgt. has had enough! With strong words, he incites his men, three squads, and in a rush they are charging across the bridge. Shrugging off firelanes from mmg, direct fire from hmg, mtrs, light AA guns, and squads they are across without a loss.

Another beserk squad is across the Pedestrian Bridge, then ascends the S-Bahn station to close with the defenders on the S-Bahn.

Following their brave lead, the Russians surge forward across the Pedestrian Bridge or up across the S-bahn.

At the Weidendamm Bridge another human wave starts across the bridge, most of it getting tied up in wire, but the lead elements are across sheltered for now in smoke.

Accurate Russian hmg fire keep the German mgs in the Reichstag and nearby buildings quiet.

The Germans must what forces they have and attempt a counterattack.

At the Kronprinzen Bridge the lead elements are broken by mg fire.

What is the turn number in the scenario now? I was wondering how much longer the Germans have to hang on before morning and their 75CPP.

5.5. We start rolling for game end next German turn.

The Russians are across, but with a little luck (absent this whole cg) the Germans can salvage the situation.

Two lucky short range 30cm Wurfkorper attacks. Russian oba red chits. Germans smoke the Russian gun line. A few good rallies and rof on the machine guns!

Dreaming! Most likely the Russians will have two more movement phases and ample smoke to really enlarge their bridgeheads.

Next firefight the Germans will get 75 cp, plus 40-60 more from the off board reinforcements (time to use them!). They have to close the bridgeheads!
