I played this solitaire, testing more of a forward defense, keeping fluid and not becoming decisively engaged east of the river. It worked better than yeaterdays attempt at a more static defense, but still ended in a Soviet Minor Victory.

10_00 The Battle of Fulda - Forward Defense

T1
1-11 Howitzer fires 1x mines in (26,6) and (27,7)
B/1-11 ACR forward to (24,6)
C/1-11 ACR forward to (26,8)
Aeroscout Platoon/11 ACR to (28,8)

T2

(?) Tank Bn disrupted while attempting flank the mines, is surprised and disrupted by B/1-11, who breaks contact while being engaged by 1-39 Helicopter Squadron.

Aeroweapons Platoon/11 ACR pushes forward and engages enemy follow-on units (28,5), losses 2 aircraft before breaking contact..
D/1-11 ACR moves into a battle position (23,8)
A/1-11 ACR moves into a battle position (22,9)
1-11 Howitzer fires 1x mines in (25,7)

T3
B/1-11 ACR, with 1-11 Howitzer supporting, pours fire onto advancing enemy of estimated brigade strength, disrupting 1-3 Motorized Rifle Battalion and a tank battalion before breaking contact.
NATO air units are now available.
Aeroweapons Platoon/11 ACR engages advancing enemy units moving along the southern flank of the minefields laid previously by 1-11 Howitzers.
Aeroweapons Platoon/11 ACR and Aeroscout Platoon/11 ACR displace 1km south.
1-11 Howitzer assists B/1-11 ACR in breaking contact, then fires in support of Aeroweapons Platoon/11 ACR and Aeroscout Platoon/11 ACR.
JBG 35 (F-4F's) in ground support role attacks 3-3 Motorized Rifle Battalion (last remaining undisrupted unit in brigade moving north of the minefield) and is chased off by enemy SAM's.

T4
Enemy forces moving around the minefields from the north have broken out of the woods into the open. NATO runs Attack Helo Troop/11 ACR and Aeroweapons Platoon/11 ACR on the lead elements.
11ACR ground units A,B,C/1-11ACR now establish a line along 22 Easting with D/1-11ACR in reserve.

T5
Enemy takes a foothold in Fulda, seizing the 50VP location in the SE corner of Fulda (note to self, helo units do not hold terrain well - if at all).
A and B/1-11 break contact and move across the heavy bridge and onto the 100VP. C and D/1-11ACR remain on rearguard.
HQ 11ACR repositions, debating moving 11 Howitzer off of the river line (should have done this last turn!)
Aero units covering the southern flank (we'll see how this works)

T6
Enemy closes in on the rear guard, will be tough to get these fellows into travel mode and across the bridge.
Arty unavailable - drats!
C/1-11 attempts first losing 3 vehicles in the process.
D/1-11's turn, goes travel mode, losing one M1, pulls back across the river to become regimental reserve but is disrupted by a Spetznaz Deception Unit.
JBG 35 hits enemy armor directly across river from 1-11 Howitzer. (fatigue)
496th TFS (F-16) follows up but is intercepted by enemy air units.

T7
Enemy closes on the heavy bridge center of Fulda. A and B/1-11 disrupt two of three enemy motorized rifle battalions out of 3 MRB's and a TB.
A and B/1-11 take multiple vehicle losses.
HQ 11ACR pounded by enemy arty.
1-11 Howitzer moves back off of the river line.

T8
Enemy moves up to a 4 hex section of the river line
A and B/1-11ACR disrupted
1-2 MRB assaults across river and pushes A and B/1-11 out of the 100VP location
Must get D/1-11 undisrupted and back into action! Massive counter attack needed to knock out 1-2 MRB
1-11 Howitzer unavailable!
3 of 5 units undisrupted. Need devine intervention from the AirO.
Attack Helo Troop/11ACR hits 1-2MRB
Aero Weapons, and AeroScouts all strike 1-2MRB with negligable effect.
496 TFS goes in! kills 35.
Disrupted C/1-11ACR fires once before breaking contact (max fatigue).
A/1-11 savages 1-2MRB, still unbroken.

T9
Enemy pushes two more MRB across the heavy bridge, losing one to disruption.
Enemy tank battalion rushes to seize the 50VP at (19,5).
None of the two disrupted cavalry troops were cured despite colocating with HQ11ACR. 1-11 Howitzer is back in action.
1-11 Howitzer pounds the bridgehead.
11ACR Helo units disrupt one MRB in briodgehead, only the tough-nut 1-2MRB remains viable.
JBG 35 makes a bombing run against the bridgehead - disrupting 1-2MRB for the lose of one F-4F.
A and D/1-11 ACR assault the bridgehead - becoming disrupted themselves!

T10
A/1-11 Broken.
Enemy moves two of the disrupted MRB's back to the east side of the river, leaving only 1-2MRB in the bridgehead.
Everything hinges on the abilities of HQ11ACR to undisrupt some troops.
Only D/1-11 is undisrupted, but they are at max fatigue!!!
Helo's up!
Units at max fatigue cannot assault, Urghh! 1-2 MRB holds, it's over!
