Enfilade 2024

Enfilade!, the HMGS convention held Memorial Day weekend in Olympia WA has been cancelled for 2024.
The Olympian Hotel (formerly the Red Lion) has been sold and the new owners scrapped all existing contracts.
HMGS will search to find a new venue to host Enfilade! in 2025 [one hopes]. A pity, since I always enjoyed
playing in the ASL tourney that was held there. {That's where I met Sam Belcher, a true ASL gentleman.}

Got word last week, that HMGS was able to find a hotel in Tacoma, WA. So Enfilade 2024 is back on the table.

That's great news! Well done to all the organizers for finding an alternative venue.

The hotel is the La Quinta Inn and Suites on 1425 E. 27th in Tacoma. Date is unchanged: May 24, 25, & 26.
Room rate is $139.00 per night (but free breakfast included). Tourney entry fee is $30 for the weekend
{$37 includes t-shirt}. This is tentative intel, subject to revision concerning fees and room rates.

According to my source, HMGS will allocate a large portion of a break away room for ASL playing.
The venue is just a little too small for a separate room.
The main question is, is the person who was the tourney director for 2023 (Brian Pickering)
going to be able to direct the tourney this year?

Ten days until Enfilade! 2024 begins. I'll be arriving late 5/24 due to Amtrak schedule changes.

Not much to share, I'm afraid. I didn't get to the hotel until 2220 hours 5/24, so any games played were done.
Found out the next morning that only TWO people had showed on 5/24 and played each other (Burgin defeated B Pickering).
I played B. Pickering [the T.D.] "Before the Blunder" a Poland in Flames scenario, I was the Poles. It was a tight game until a majority
of my Poles were eliminated FTR and he destroyed one of my last remaining MMCs via DC.

Meanwhile Burgin scared up an opponent for "Gavin Take", the opponent only there for the day. The opponent won.
Since no one else showed up, B. Pickering, Burgin, and myself decided on J164 "Aiding the Local Constabulary" [3 player version].
We played a turn or two before retiring for the night, resuming play in the morning {B. Pickering played the South Africans,
Burgin was the Italians and I was the Mutineers}. We played another couple of turns, until I had to leave to catch my train home.

Before I left (it being 2:00 in the afternoon 5/26) B. Pickering ruled since the Mutineers held the Arsenal and the Train station
and had inflicted vehicle losses on both the Italians and South Africans, that the Mutineers had won. [Burgin was 1-2, B. Pickering was 1-2
and I was 1-1]. He then announced that unless things picked up for 2025, that he wouldn't be running an ASL tourney next year.
Unfortunate, but that's where it stands at this point.
