I just want to confirm my understanding of direct non-ordnance fire against unarmored vehicles, since as I understand it, it seems like an all or nothing deal.

7.308 [...] affect all occupants of the Target Location including Infantry and other vehicles/horses which are present in the same Location [EXC: a vehicle in Bypass and out of the firer’s LOS cannot be affected, nor can more vehicle/horse counters be affected by a DR than the highest KIA# of that column as randomly determined (e.g., a 6, 8 or 12 FP attack vs the H Vehicle Line could affect no more than three vehicles; a 2 or 4 FP attack could affect only two vehicles; a 1 FP attack could affect only one vehicle)]
Suppose I have a 12 FP FG prep firing on a open ground hex with 3 trucks (no DRM involved) and I get a 3 on the DR. Will all 3 trucks be eliminated and burn? If I get a 11, all 3 are safe? Is this really an all or nothing result?

The star line for 12 FP is an 8. Overstacking penalty does not apply. A5.132.

Roll a 9 and all fine. Roll and 8, all immob. Roll a 4 and all burn. The highest KIA # is the # of vehicles that are affected. So all three burn on your 3 DR.
