No; the EX states the Russian units currently in O3 now end their MPh and may move no farther.

But the Japanese unit could detonate the DC as part of its last impulse per G1.424.

Hi

Can a banzai SQ that has reached an entered a location containing enemy units place a DC (in the same loc as per G1.612 if that SQ has mf left?

Reasoning below:

1, DC may be placed in same location w/o adverse effects on placing unit as per G1.612
"G1.612 DC: If otherwise able and allowed to, Japanese [EXC: DC Hero; see 1.424] may Place/Throw DC into their own Location (A23.61). A DC Placed in the normal manner (A23.3) but in its possessor’s own Location can attack only enemy/Melee units (A7.4) and terrain/Fortifications.

SO DC may be place into a Japanese location shared by enemy

2. Is DC placement allowed by HW (Banzai) units?
Here it boils down to whether expenditure of MF is allowed by a (formerly HW/Banzai unit) as a HW/Banzai unit in same loc as enemy is not a HW unit anymore as per A25.234:
ENDING THE HUMAN WAVE: A unit remains a HW Unit (even if no longer adjacent to another HW Unit) until it is: eliminated; broken; out of MF at the end of an Impulse; **at the start of an Impulse in a
Location (or in a hex with a pillbox) containing an armed, Known enemy** unit** [EXC: if it uses the Impulse to move beneath an enemy-occupied Entrenchment counter]; or is a Guard due to capturing a SMC/Unarmed/Disrupted
unit (25.233).

SO a BANZAI unit is in this case no longer bound by HW rules for movement.

3, Here is the key question are formerly banzaing units allowed to spend remaing MF when the HW has ended for that unit.

-------

A25.235 EX. It says, "It is now the Russian third Impulse; the Russian units currently in O3 now end their MPh and may move no farther (25.235)." But although the EX references A25.235, I can't see the statement being justified in that rule. It seems that the rules intend A25.235 to say once a unit is no longer a HW Unit it may no longer expend MF in that MPh, but that does not seem to be written.
