Gonzo Allies 94 vs. Cougar Axis 6.
Is that a real score ?? :hail: :rifle: :hail:

If so please keep me away from Gonzo in future rounds !

Any chance of posting an update of all the scores somewhere (e.g. the tournament page ?)

I decline to answer on the grounds it may confirm Gonzo's reputation. :freak:

Yep! :D
Scores will be posted when Round 1 is over-
So as not to influence those still playing Rd1.
(sort of like exit polls!) :p

It will also let players keep track of & verify their "official" scores.

Note- all pairings were made using the following scientific formula: Fresh Meat vs CM-Monsters!

(all pods are randomly chosen) :halo:

"Scores will be posted when Round 1 is over- "

In the case of our pod that may take a while, as both of my (US based) opponents have gone on vacation. One has not been heard from since, the other appears to have only intermittant email access. Cue much UK-based thumb twiddling.. :bored:

Question- were you informed of how long the delay would be?

Everyone please note: Without prior notification after 2 weeks without contact an opponent can OFFICIALLY be considered to have surrendered. And any level of victory can then be claimed.

Yes they did both inform me they were going, I have no problem with the situation apart from the enforced CMBO idleness.. We'll have to pick up speed when they return though as I am going away myself from July 27th for 10 days.

Don't kick a guy when he is down :D

No - I lost big time in both my battles. My opponents was WAY better than me so thats why. But I loved every minute of it and can't wait until next round.

BTW do we get new opponents... ?

Cheers

YES!

:skull: Please note that all pods are randomly drawn, however...

:skull: Due to the fact that I want everyone to have a fair shake plus get a chance to play & meet other WHQ players no one will play the same opponent(s) back to back.

:skull: This is the only exception to randomly drawing the pods for future rounds. I will simply check & if you just played against a player I will redraw numbers.

FYI: the official round one scenario name is, "GB-Normandy Recon Mission."

And, it looks like bothsides are winning in Rd 1, its all based on player skill.

Is there any interest in having a post Round One Chat-Session? :hmmm:

It would probably take place on a weekend aound noon CST to allow our European players to join in (this is roughly 6 PM Western-Europe time). :)

The chat would last 1-2 hours based on how many players are there. The TOAW guys have done this with some success. :surprise:

Ask your pod opponets if they are interested!

Just let me know. :cheeky:

Dang, it's suddenly so quiet on the Western Front that I can't even hear the "crickets" chirping.

How are the games going gentlemen? Only a few endgames have been reported.

FYI- Round 1 "NRM," is a tiny (quick) scenario when compared to the next two rounds when the pace of turns will certainly have to be quicker.

For my game as Allies, we are at turn 12.
For my game as Axis, we are at turn 10.

We have had some delays due to vacations and time zones, but I have no complaints about the responsiveness of my opponents. Don't know if we will get to the absolute finish by Aug 23rd, but I'll do my part to get there.

Yes, it's been a vacation season for our pod as well, with all three participants being on vacation (on different times, of course). But we're getting close to decisions, passed the midgame on both my games, and I'm losing on both :(
As I said to Boff, going into his German held village with my American paratroopers was like running into a brick wall - it hurt.

Round 1 deadline

Muwahahaha ! ...and you've seen almost nothing yet !

Ahem... ...more seriously... ...I suppose that many players around there, in the US or in Europe, will be on holidays for a few weeks during the month of August (lucky guys, dooh !). Then, the 23rd of August might be a bit short as an deadline for this first round, due to holidays.

I think that the regular pace will restart at the end of the month, not before.

Happy and sunny holidays to you, Gentlemen

Update. Was a little off on my turn estimate. Here's what turn I was on this morning:

As Allies, I am on turn 14.
As Axis, I am on turn 11.

Both games are pretty exciting right now. Very pivotal moments.

Hello to all the Panther ducking, M4 dodging foot soldiers in France! :D

I've had very little feedback on the progress of some POD's. So I hope all is going well in those POD's!

I can't emphasize enough at how small & "quick" Round 1 is when compared to the next rounds: play-tests have shown some future 3MIF scenario turns will run in the 2+ MB range.

With DSL those turns took my PC over 5 minutes to download.

So... how are your battles progressing? :hmmm:

As Allies, turn 21
As Axis, turn 15, I think.

For the Axis game, I might hook up by TCP/IP with my opponent to finish the game off quickly.

Panther v Stuart

Bruce as Allies gets the honors for taking up a Panther in the flank. I got too bold too fast and left him a nice juicy shot before I could turn on him. Grrrrrr.

I am very ashamed.

Deadline is approaching...

Hello all,

Just for my information : what will happen to players who won't be able to finish their game in time ? Just eliminated or handicap points ?

It would be sad, in the case that many players may be in this difficult situation, to eliminate them in number... ...in fact, the best player would be the clever AND the faster :D

------

Panther commander : Ami's panzer, 10 hours, 300 meters !!
Panther gunner : Oh come on, don't shout like that in the microphone ! It's a Stuart, nothing really frighten....

SHKRINK !!!
(Smoke, flames, burnt paint...)

Panther gunner : err... ...well... ...it's unfair, this Stuart was too close !

:D
