Get ready for the 2023 Advanced Squad Leader Alberta Assault!

The weekend of May 6 and 7, 2023 has been reserved for ASL players of all levels to gather at the Mount Royal University Faculty Center for a weekend of ASL fun and games.

The non-elimination Round Robin Tournament will kick off Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. The weekend will consist of 3 rounds of play, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. All levels of ASL players are welcome, from grizzled veterans to conscripts.

The format will remain as before, Derek Cox’s Double One format with three rounds over the two days, with players divided into groups based on experience (beginner, intermediate and experienced). All games will use the same scenario. Starter Kit scenarios may be used if enough interest is present.

Everyone and anyone is welcome.

NOTE: Scenarios will not be published prior to the start of the tournament. All will be revealed during the weekend.

Entry Fee: $20 CDN per person.

You can pay at the door or if you are interested in dropping by our monthly meet ups on Sunday between now and the Tournament you can pay then.

The Faculty Center is room W315 at Mount Royal University (MRU), at 4825 Mount Royal Gate SW.

Parking at MRU is available in the Short Term Lot 2. This lot is also next to the West Gate Entrance of the university, with easy access to the Faculty Center. Attendees must pay for their parking on Saturday, however parking on Sunday is free.

We had 8 participants. Two groups of four of equal skill level

Each group played the same scenario in each of the three rounds.

Round 1 was: LSSAH 29 Last drop of Blood - 2 German wins, 1 Italian and 1 tie(DNF)

Round 2 was: AP52 Into the Vienna Woods - 2 German and 2 Russian wins

Round 3 was: AP275Village of the Damned - 2 Italian and 2 Russian wins - 3 of these games came down to the last turn, including during the last CC phase with an Italian squad getting the ambush and withdrawing to an open hex for the win

Everyone said that they enjoyed themselves and felt that they were good Tournament size scenarios.

We do not worry about winning it is about having fun.
We draw names for prizes and everyone was satisfied

Craig L took home the door prize a copy of: Fight for Seoul

I want to again thank, LeFranc Tireur, Lone Canuck Publishing, Illuminating Rounds, The Sentry Box, and BattleSchool for contributing to making our tournament a success.
