From Brian Youse at CSW:

Guys, after a lot of searching we have discovered we're in the not unique position of being a bit to large a convention to make finding room easy.
Particularly when you're trying to find a convention/meeting room space that can be donated so that we can raise money for the The World War II Foundation.

Best case we've managed to find, that isn't in Northern Virginia (which we were trying to avoid since we know there's a late spring/early summer convention there), was near BWI airport and had several major flaws. First, we would have had to cap attendance at 135 persons (allowing for MMP employees, owners, etc.) the space was in two separate rooms. We couldn't have "honor keg", we had to use hotel restaurant for Saturday pizza or pay a hefty fee, and had no complimentary breakfast. And most importantly (to us) using this site would cost us 6-8k which is 6-8k we would NOT be giving the The World War II Foundation! To us that's a deal breaker.

SO, we have decided to go back to Bowie, Maryland. The Comfort Inn. HOWEVER, we are paying for private security starting each day from 10pm to 8am. We will have two guards whose job is to monitor/patrol/protect the parking lot. We may try to shift their schedules to gain more evening time, we don't think we need more morning coverage - that has NEVER been an issue.

The dates have moved, they are January 29th through February 1st 2026. Thursday evening (many come early afternoon) through Sunday. Yes, this is the week before the Super Bowl so there will be NO NFL games to miss while you're playing ASL, Gamers games, GCACW, and evening euros.

We will have a registration link on our website shortly, this coming week we hope.

And we will continue to look for a more suitable location. We talk about this on our podcast (check out YouTube look for "We're not dead yet").

We hope to see you at Winter Offensive 2026!!

For those of you that are attending Winter Offensive later this week, MMP (along with my assistance) will be running a Jebsheim HASL mini-tournament.

Play starts with Round 1 on Friday morning and concludes Saturday afternoon. If interested in playing, please drop me a note or post something here.

We will be providing maps, HASL SSRs, and scenarios. If interested, and have the capability, please bring the following counters:

American Infantry/Ordnance/AFVs

Free French Infantry
Forgotten War US Airborne (W2.11) (6-6-7/3-4-7)
Forgotten War US Armed KMC (W3.32) (5-5-8/2-4-8)
Forgotten War OUNC (W5.1) Leaders
Forgotten War South Korean SWs

German Infantry/Ordnance/AFVs

For those not familiar with the battle, this is a fight for a small village in the Alsace region of France in January, 1945. The battle featured a combined US/Free French assault on the village defended by elements of the German Gebirgsjäger Regiment 136, 2. Gebirgs Division.

If you enjoyed the Hatten HASL, then this module should be right up your alley.

Thanks!

Are the different Allied Counters used to represent different companies or unit types?

The are used to represent different nationalities. The Free French in these are truly horrifying. They have a LOT of Assault Fire and can easily hammer you with 20+3 where ever they want on the map. -- jim

6-6-7 Free French Paras (RCP)
5-5-8 Free French Foreign Legion (RMLE)

Turns out that these Free French units (and others) are not represented correctly in CDG.
Do you envision new counters being produced for this? I would imagine so. Do you think those will go into the main counter-set or be localized to Jebshiem? @Perry, @Scott_Blanton any idea of where these counters might place in the pantheon of core counters?

Why ROK 5-5-8 counters (green/tan) and not OUNC 5-5-8 counters (green/blue) ? I notice you use OUNC leader counters.

If this HASL will include sheets of KW counters, I would love to see this provided with a "counterless" zip-loc bag option. Here's hoping.

I suspect if there are counters, they will be in French and Free French counters. Hence my question about will these be considered as core counters. -- jim
