I can't blame bad luck here - I'm rusty and it showed. More importantly, Larry's fallback defense forced the Brits to keep attacking a forward wall, and I just couldn't inflict enough casualties to counter my own. The IJA reinforcements were going to tip the balance of power in his favor, and that's not a prescription for success.
So ultimately I don't know what the Brits are supposed to do here against that kind of defense. I read AARs where they just trashed the at-start Japanese and I suspect those Japanese were in stand-and-die mode.
All credit to Larry for coming up with a solid plan and executing it well. There were a few opportunities for the IJA to break off a squad here and there to execute local PITA counterattack, but he stayed the course and it eventually added up to Game Over before IJA turn 3.
