Playing J14 scenarios, there have been a few which have the SSR that ponds are open ground. In some cases it is possible to drop a draggable overlay onto the offending water, but sometimes it is not. There is an existing option for ponds are dry which creates a depression. Is it possible to put an open ground transformation on the list. Not urgent but one may expect this sort of thing to catch on with more designers.

What about this one?

Not sure if this is the right forum to post map errors, but here goes anyways.

I've noticed that the LOS thread on the current Red October map is a couple pixels off. Looks like 1 up and 1 left of dead center.

Click Jump Problem

This has gone on for as long as I can remember. It seems that if my opponent and I click on the map at the same time, and one of us has a counter/stack selected, that counter jumps into a random position on the map.

On a small map it's normally obvious, but on a larger map it often necessitates an undo to bring the counter back to its original position.

We have dealt with this for so long we've just learned to live with it. We are always on the same version and always on the newest version of VASL/VASSAL. Does anyone else experience this?

Yes, two people clicking on the map at the same time can do interesting things. You can even steal your opponents LOS thread while he is drawing and draw the line to a different hex.

Problem: You have an awesome attacking force in AP191 East Wind, but you never get to see them because they're hidden under Ski counters:

It feels like you're attacking with a wave of Prisoners or CX counters or something. This is taking Winter Camoflage a bit too far...

Solution: make a Ski Badge that indicates when Skis are on:

Ahh... Awesomeness restored.

Minor Downside: no visual reminder that everybody is carrying 1PP Skis.
Response: Bummer. Can't have everything.

While setting up the maps for AP196, I came across an idea for an enhancement to Virtual ASL.

The scenario states "all multi-hex buildings are two story houses B23.22". The map, however, features some buildings with square stairwells and some buildings with round stairwells. If I use the "remove all stairwells" function, I loose both square and round stairwells. I remembered that the draggable overlays function (not extension) has stairwells that one can add to a building. I took a look to see if I could change their colour from white to grey or brown. I cannot. Therefore, we have a possible enhancement: make the stairwell draggable overlays have colour options, like the FFE draggable overlays, for example.

Would it be possible to have a hot key for 'focus on my opponents moves' please.

The current method of turning it off/on from preferences is cumbersome if, as I do, one wants to turn it off and on relatively often.

For example my opponent and I will often do our rally phase at the same time, or I want to survey the map whilst he advances but I cannot as my map pans back to each of his moves.

This is brilliant, same should be considered for bicycles

We now have the ability to create ACQ counters on the counter menu. COuld this be tweaked so that the Creating sounter and the ACQ counter is linked As per CTRL-ALT cap (i.e the red line between gun/Mtr and acq)?

Additional suggestion: ACQ counters created from mortars should always be AREA acq counters.

Wish: The Acq counters copies the label of the unit from which the ACQ was created

Thanks for all the hard work you do for us all

In theory yes but so far it has proven to be beyond my skill set. So, in the short term no.

But remember that if you link it using CTRL-ALT-L immediately after creating the ACQ counter, the linking will work. Then you select the acq counter and drag it to its destination.
Additional suggestion: ACQ counters created from mortars should always be AREA acq counters.
This is doable but would require replicating a bunch of work and making some minor changes. No reason this can't be done except for a lack of time, energy and enthusiasm. I will add it to our ToDo list.

This was my original thought too. However, people use label counter for all sorts of things and I was persuaded that this was not a good idea.

Michael, I am being dense. Why would you want to change the colour of the stairwell indicators? Shouldn't they always be white?

I will create this as an issue on our ToDo list.

I have come to using a set process when using the add ACQ function.
  1. CTRL+E to add the ACQ counter. At this time both the Gun and the ACQ are selected.
  2. Use CTRL+L to label both, the Gun will be shown first and you can just copy (CTRL+C) its label, select OK, the ACQ counter label dialog is then displayed and you can paste the label in it (CTRL+V). This will label both the same. Both are still selected.
  3. Now link the two with the CTRL+ALT+L command.
  4. Left click off the counters to deselect them.
  5. expand the stack and just select the ACQ counter. Then move it to where you want it.
step 4 is important because if you do not do it you will end up moving the Gun instead of the ACQ counter. That happens a lot for me, especially when I start to play for the session, and I have to always force myself to do that click to deselect.

I was following a SSR, partially quoted in my post. I found a need to hide the stairwell indicator by colouring it.

Duh! I was being very dense! I thought you wanted to display stairwells in different colours. I see now that you are trying to cover them up.

The good news for you is that, dumb as I am. I know how to do what you want.

The sorta bad news is that 668 is slated to be a bug fix version and there is a good list of stuff to do. So this just might have to wait for 669.

No problem. Just an idea for a future enhancement. Might be good to include the steeple draggable overlay as well.

It's not like it's a complicated game or anything like that.😉

Greatly appreciate your contributions to ASL and the community. I don't know wtf you are talking about but that is because I am an OMOOT. Still can recognize those who add to the game in whatever way. Well done to all who work on VASL.

Board 2 LOS issue

VASL reports LOS 2H8 to I8-J7-I7 and I8-J7-J8 are both blocked. (Purple is clear, black is blocked.)
27383

27386

But LOS to I8-J8-I8 is clear
27388
It correctly reports LOS to J8-I8-I9 and I9-J8-I8 are blocked. But this one vertex causes a problem.
