Audie Murphy is probably rolling in his grave. The only thing preventing that is the weight of all those medals.

Can women with " mens " names serve in combat?

I am a combat vet, while I am not annoyed at this I find it totally stupid and having no barring on anything of reality and of importance. When under combat conditions I could care less what your name is as long as I can trust or count on you to have my back. Just my thoughts.

Women are allowed to fill combat roles since around 2016. I know they have been in combat. Senator Tammy Duckworth lost both her legs piloting a chopper hit by an RPG in Iraq IIRC. However Private Leslie McJick can't because his name is girlie? Whatever.

If you haven't noticed I am quite peeved by this policy. Look for an upcoming thread on our military heroes with gender neutral or girlie names.

No I saw it as a CNN article interviewing a Congressman about it. Of course these days you can't believe anything you see so who knows. I hope it was a parody.
Lol I can be quite gullible so apologies if this was a ha ha. A very good one btw.

I like onions. Even the satirical ones

You should check again. The Onion did a news piece on their parody network, which is ONN, for Onion News Network. Their logo looks like CNN, and they interviewed a fake congressman.

If you really saw a bona fide CNN news story, post a link to it and I'll stand corrected.

When I was in the service only the men were allowed to be in combat roles. My own personal opinion is that is the way it should be, but that is because of my age and way I was raised to protect women from these sorts of things, but if woman want to serve in combat then so be it.

I'd fight with these fellows and could care less of their names

I haven't watched TV for years.
The only " news " I see is while scrolling through Google to read the agony and advice columns. That's where I picked that news item up. Apologies to all for my dimwittedness. Onion did a good job. They certainly fooled me.
