Just an idea:

Looking at the way railroad artwork is typically encountered on overlays and boards - wouldn't it make sense to "turn" the "train-artwork" by 45° counterclockwise in order to have it align with the tracks?

I was thinking that as well. It would make more sense to not point to the vertex and just keep the art straight on the flat of the hex. All in all, I love the concept. I hope to see it make it to print.

The RR car counters could just be turned one click CCW and the cars will align with the track. What would normally be the MP corner on the counter will "point" to a vertex. It probably doesn't matter that the RR car "covered arc" points to a vertex. As opposed to pointing to a hexside.

Today in ASL for me, was meeting up with the Sapporo Historical Gaming Club, and playing two FtF games in an incredibly friendly environment,
even with the language barrier issues...Thank God for Pocket Translator...:)
What a Fantastic group!!!, to make me feel so welcome

I advanced a HIP Japanese 1st line HS into an unconcealed US stack consisting of 3x6-6-6 and a 7-0 in light jungle. The Japanese HS was concealed, stealthy but advancing into Jungle terrain ( -1 ambush). I got the ambush - however 19 - 2 ( SSR all CC is HtH ) is a snake eyes ( =>8-1 ) - but I'm down two ( Japanese HtH and ambush ) - duly rolled a snake eyes 😁

In the same turn my wounded 8+1 ( 7+2 ) obtained heroic leader status ...🫡

No scenario for Hill 253.5. I considered doing one, but thought that it would be sacrilegious. :)

Instead - Hill 257.1 is played. Both hills were in the same area north of Ponyri - both strategically important (artillery observation), and the combatants at both were essentially the same units.

The scenario card reads:
'Day three of Citadelle and German forces had broken through the first of three Russian defensive belts along the northern Central Front and began hitting the second belt.. Dominating the high ground close to Ponyri lie two strategically crucial hills: Hill 253.5 and Hill 257.1. Each hill if controlled would provide clear observation of Ponyri as well as of the entire eastern portion of the Central Front. The experienced German 86th Infantry Division was tasked with taking both hills. Dug in along the top of hill 257.1 was the tough Russian 1021st Infantry Division which understood the hill’s importance and wasn’t about to relinquish control of it. In the wings on both sides were armored units waiting for the signal to assist where needed.
