I wish I could speak it! I learned a little bit here & there growing up (mostly cuss words of course)
So you grew up in a German speaking - erm- cussing environment?

& I took it for 4 quarters while I was at LaTech. I can read it all day but I don’t know what I’m reading except the occasional word or phrase that I have retained.
Similar for me with French. Although I could never understand Cajun French that a few folks still spoke in the late 80's - you see, I've been deep into your swamps... 🐊

Ah, and this part - of course - also applies to the ASLRB! 🤣

No. Mostly phrases from war movies or comics.
Ahhh! My ALL time favorite in US WW2 war movies (can't remember title nor what it was about) was this one:

"Achtung! Das kam von da oben!"

(Watch out! That came from up there!)

The Germans in the movie said it ALL the time...

  • When they were shot at from an upper building location.
  • When the General was moving past in his staff car in the middle of Germany.
  • When German officers bent over some map in the headquarters with no enemy within miles around.
  • When they were shot at from all sorts of directions but certainly NOT from above.
It was hilarious and I could not help bursting out laughing several times to the irritation of the Americans around me who didn't catch the absurdity of it.

I watched that movie decades ago, but since then, I still use "Achtung! Das kam von da oben!" in all sorts of inappropriate situations with glee. So if anyone plays me in ASL - you've been warned... 😜

Finnished punching and clipping the "Hollow Legions 2nd edition" Italians for an upcoming playtest.

Did not tackle rest of the counters yet, mainly because the Ethiopians etc. create a FUBAR cascading chaos in my storage systems.

Some day, I will sink months of my lifetime to address this, when I succumb to the nagging of creating a (once more) perfect RAACO ASL storage, replacing the RAACO A75 and A78 inserts with (yet to be optimally designed) 3D-printed inserts...

After finishing to punch, clip, and sort in the "Hollow Legions 3rd edition" coutners [EXC: Eritreans, for whom it will be very tricky to find a place in my storage system with out screwing up everything...],

today I began punching and clipping counters of "Doomed Battalions 4th edition".

When that will eventually be finished, all of my "1st wave" counters will be in retirement/part of the second OoB and the "2n wave" counters (i.e. the most current ones, which are better die-cut and with larger font) implemented to my storage.

Got into a punching-clipping-sorting frenzy...

"Doomed Battalions 4th edition" and "Hollow Legions 3rd edtion" done.
Even found a spot for the Eritreans.

Methinks, I have now completed the "renewal" of my counterset.

What about the Swedes?
Hehe... Also done!

32131

Some Swedes may not be happy with my designation of the Swedes as "Axis Minors", but then again they have to be stored somewhere.
I stashed the Eritreans next to them (last free slot in the storage system...) - as they did not really have a flag, I used the one of the kingdom of Italy, which seems to have been used for the Italian colonies at the time.

You may use this (for easier identification)View attachment 32312
Actually, I had thought about it.

But as the flag symbol is of less than 2cm² size on the label sticking on the RAACO Assorter, I figured that with the flag symbol you posted, the facces symbology on the corners would be too small to be discernible. And without that "hint" one might confuse the rest with the Danish flag.

This is why I decided on

32313

Not the "standard" fasces bundle symbology as for the rest of the regular ASL Italians, but still clearly discernible to be associated with the Italians by their tricolore.
