Condition XRAY:
Provides the least watertight integrity and the greatest ease of access throughout the ship. It is set when the threat to the ship is minimal. Condition XRAY is set during working hours when the ship is in port, when there is no danger of attack, and when there is no threat from bad weather. All fittings marked with a black X and circle X are closed when condition XRAY is set.

The Battle of Bréville (Bréville-les-Monts).

Fought by the British 6th Airborne Division and the German 346th Infantry Division, between 8 and 13 June 1944, during the early phases of the invasion of Normandy in the Second World War. Bréville-les-Monts was a village between the Orne and Dives rivers that provided the Germans a vantage point, in which they could see the River Orne and Caen Canal bridges and the Village of Ouistreham. The Germans had been conducting numerous counter attacks on British positions from this village. The British 6th Paras' divisional reserves conducted a night attack on the village beginning on the evening of June 12th which included the 12th Parachute Battalion, a company from the 12th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, the 22nd Independent Parachute Company, and a tank squadron from the 13th/18th Royal Hussars. The British successfully captured the village. However, during the battle every officer who took part in the attack was killed or wounded. This included Simon Fraser, (Lord Lovat), who was severely wounded due to a British artillery round that fell short and killed several officers.

Juno Beach

One of five beaches of the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. The beach spanned just east of the British beach Gold, to just west of the British beach Sword. Taking Juno was the responsibility of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. The objectives on D-Day were to cut the Caen-Bayeux road, seize Carpiquet airport west of Caen, link the two British beaches on the flanks, and reach the Caen–Bayeux railway line by nightfall. The beach was defended by two battalions of the German 716th Infantry Division, with elements of the 21st Panzer Division held in reserve near Caen.

Several assault companies—notably those of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada—took heavy casualties in the opening minutes of the first wave. Strength of numbers, coordinated fire support from artillery, and armoured squadrons cleared most of the coastal defences within two hours of landing. By the time all operations on the Anglo-Canadian front were ordered to halt at 21:00, the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division had succeeded in pushing farther inland than any other landing force on D-Day.

Lollapalooza or Lightning: Commonly used Passwords in the Pacific to identify Japanese infiltrators.
Because the Japanese would produce a "rorra" sound and could not pronounce the "L" sound correctly.
