The Summer Festival is annoying. I kind of like the idea of a "scavenger hunt" but the quest lists all the items you need without also telling you that you have to activate specific quests. I guess I should have realized it when I activated the 'find the lost items' quests and erased those items from the "summer festival' list in the quest tracker. But I thought for some reason that "go fishing" would be erased if I just - you know - went fishing for an unspecified amount of time in all the four locations. I didn't realize that I had to activate a specific quest to strike these off the list until - after fishing in three of the locations - I went online and did a web search.
There is absolutely nothing intuitive in the game itself that tells you that you need to activate these quests, though I may be guilty of not reading the invitation closely enough.
BUT - generally, if you need to talk to someone to initiate a quest, that is what will show up in the tracker first. I'm not sure why that doesn't happen in this case. Clearly, you need to talk to someone to get the ball rolling before you "Go Fishing". So why the tracker doesn't indicate that is a bit beyond me.
Otherwise, the concept is - ok. I got some screenshots of guys lined up fishing in Thorin's Hall. Kind of neat to see people come together at the same times and places. You NEVER see people fishing in LOTRO, and if so, maybe one lonely guy off in the wilderness - to see a whole row of people plying their hobby - and inside Thorin's Hall - was really a wild sight to see, for those used to playing the game for a long time.
